I do this one but throw in some chopped dried fruit (apricots really yummy) and maby drizzle over some melted choc at the end!!

Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone ;)
  • All of these recipes...

Has anyone managed to make a nice soft flapjack like you can buy from a shop? Or is it all to do with slightly undercooking it?? :)

I think undercooking will make the flapjacks a bit softer - I'm not 100% certain, though, as I like my flapjacks really crunchy! :D

Adding mashed banana to the mix gives a more cakey texture (well, it did when I tried it, anyway), so that might be worth trying if you haven't already.

    HTH. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • I think I'll try the lower temp and dont cook or quite so long. Shame the oven here is an antique and rubbish at the best of times but I'll have a go!

Need to pop to a shop for syrup... forgot to buy any at Tesco :(

oooh panic - I've just wandered off from my pc, wandered back again, wiggled my mouse and found an onscreen message saying I've reported this thread as spam!!! I didn't, honest - well, at least I didn't know I did. It's not spam, it's lovely - I only went to find a pen to write a recipe down. Am cringing apologetically!

These are good! (even if I do say so myself!!) ;D
    4.5 oz/half cup butter
    2.75oz/thrid cup caster suage
    1 tbsp golden syrup
    12 oz/ 4 cups porridge oats
2.75 oz / half cup chocolate chips
1.75 oz / third cup sultanas

Lightly grease a shallow 8" square cake tin.
Place butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan - cook over a low heat until butter and suagr melt and mixture is well combined.
Remove from pan, stir in oats until well coated, add choccy chips and sultanas and make sure eveything is well coated.
Turn into prepared tin and press down well.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes (about half that time for fan oven).
Cool slightly then mark into squares, when almost cold cut into squares and transfer to wire rack.
You can replace some of the oats with nuts, sunflowers seeds and extra dried fruit.
Incidently - they are meant to keep for a week - I've never found out!

i made these without the chocolate and currants, the taste was nice but there were to many oats and was crumbly.
