I made flapjacks on Monday with a recipe I found somewhere in this thread, using syrup, oats, sugar and chocolate chips.
They came out really, really crunchy. I obviously cooked them for too long, but could this be partly down to the fact that I used 'quick cook' oats?
They also stuck to the greaseproof paper with which I lined the tin. Greaseproof paper doesn't taste that bad actually, but I think next time I'll grease the paper too...0 -
Hello all,
Trying to make a few treats to avoid buying them, and just discovered we're out of syrupAs I'm doing the no supermarket shopping for a week challenge, I'd love to find a way around this. Anyone got any tasty flapjack recipes without GS?

Caramelize some sugar with some water to thin it out and stop it from burning/turning to a tough sticky mess, and then use this caramelized sugar thing instead of the golden syrup. But you might want to bear in mind that this may be sweeter than golden syrup and so you might want to cut back on the sugar in the flapjack recipe...Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0
