Syrup is syrup. You can freeze flapjacks: that might be the only way you can ensure that you don't inhale the lot at once. Otherwise they should keep for a couple of weeks in an airtight container. This is purely hypothetically, of course.0

They never last long enough to freeze in our house either
- but I did once forget one in tupperware in the bread bin (I dunno how!) and found it a week later. I still ate it - it was perfectly edible (if a little "plasticky" IYKWIM). I too use cheap syrup but not really cheap marg, I just use whatever's on offer like Clover.

About half an hour in our house! LOL Seriously, flapjacks will last ages as they have a high sugar content and no crumb to go stale like bread or cake. They may soften or go sticky if you underdo them a bit like I do - but then that's how I like them.0

Flapjacks never survive the day in our house
but they should freeze okay.
I use 'Basics' Golden Syrup & flour and find that baking turns out fine.
I would agree that taste is very subjective & you tend to prefer what you are used to, things don't really taste better or worse, they just taste differentlyThe difference between branded and unbranded is usually that the branded stuff have more flavour enhancers (sugar & salt) added to the basic ingredients

Brilliant, thank you all.
I am going to make a HUGE amount on a day when I have the time, then freeze them and get them out (rationed) as needed! So as to save time during the working week.
I will use the basic syrup next time too and see how it turns out. The marg is the one on offer at the minute (BOGOF). I also intend to experiment a bit with adding fruit and choc chips etc in the next batch. I'm getting into this:T.
Thanks again

Is it possible to freeze them if I coat them in chocolate? I do this with mine to make them taste even yummier, naughty I know:)0

seems I'm not the only one who has no clue how long flapjacks last.
I might have to start freezing them to make them last longer - there are 3 of us here in Villa Valli. I never eat them (or I might have 1) Little Miss Valli is equally reluctant to munch sugary snacks. We cook 'em - must be DS who eats em. IN A DAY! And I make half as much again to fill the tin I have!
