I can only find sweetened condensed milk in the shops here. Do you think I could use that instead and cut down on the sugar? I'd really like to try this recipe as my dh and ds are flapjackaholics!!
Many thanks
LC
You can't buy unsweetened condensed milk called that... this confused me but unsweetened condensed milk is actually evaporated milk!0 -

anyone else coeliac on here? do you eat oats any good gluten free ones?
has anyone tried starbucks granola bar its so lush it could be a flapjack
mmmmmmmm
I know this is an ancient thread but if it's any help, Mornflake oats are guaranteed "pure" ie suitable for coeliacs, and you can get a 2kg bag in Asda for just over £2 - don't bother with the small "free from" bags, as they're about £3 for 500g!0 -
I'm not a very good baker - so forgive me if this sounds like a silly question...
I have some muesli no one seems to be eating (OH said it was a bit like horsefeed!) I wondered if I could use it up by making it into flapjacks which would be great for the kids packed lunches. Has anyone actually done this? Can I do it without having to use golden syrup (don't have any) or honey (kids won't eat cause they are vegan) - any suggestions? No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -

I would give it a go, but you would need syrup and presumably some marg, baking spread in place of butter.0 -
I did this just the other day, I added half musli and half porridge oats, they were lovely.
I have never made them without syrup but don't see why it would not work.0 -
How about muesli fingers? I make up porridge fingers for my little boys brekkie (he's 9 months) I measure equal measure of porridge and full fat milk eg. 3 tablespoons of each. Mix and leave to soak, stir and press onto a saucer & micro for 2 mins. Leave to cool & cut into fingers.
Depending on the age of your children, maybe add a little sugar? I've grated a little mango / mashed banana etc into the mix too0 -
ive merged this with our flapjacks thread so you can see how others do it
Muesli/cereal bars recipes may also help & what can i do with muesli?

Hi I'm going to be making apricot and honey flapjacks tomorrow, but I have a few fresh apricots that need using up. Could I use these instead of dried apricots do you think? Obviously I would use less liquid but not sure whether I should stew the apricots first or just chop them up as the receipe says to do for dried ones.
Any help would be appreciated..thanksMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

I would attempt to dry them out as much as possible in a very very low oven. I would expect there to just be too much liquid otherwise.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0

It would probably work similarly to this...
