MMR & autism Not just bad science but also falsified

We had to have an up to date MMR to be allowed to live in halls.
And believe it or not I have met lots of autistic children, I still maintain that losing a sense is a lot worse than having autism. Not being able to decipher a noise is one thing, not being able to hear it at all is horrendous. As part of my training I had to walk around for 2 days completely blind with only a stick (and the white stick training blind people get), I couldn't wait for that to be over and I certainly don't think that blind people have it easy in terms of getting a job and having relationships. The ones who do I think must be very determind.0 -

Which university? and what happened if you hadn't had the vaccination?0 -
Edinburgh Napier.
If you didn't have the vaccination you had to privately rent, the uni gave a list of approved landlords and people who took student lodgers that you could use.0 -
No, I graduated in 2009, left halls in 2007. I might have a copy of the paperwork we got but it wasn't on their website, just on the agreement you sent off when you applied for a halls place.0

I am sure that if that was the case it could not be enforced. The link above states quite clearly that if you meet the criteria outlined you are guaranteed a room, therefore, they cannot legally add another criteria as that is the published information.0 -
The pack you get is a lot more detailed than that and goes into things like stipulating your lifestyle in some parts so that they can match you with room mates. I don't know of anyone who never had an MMR not get a place but I know that everyone in my flat had it because we were all shocked when we got mumps at christmas time in first year.
Reading into it the policy has changed since I was in halls anyway, it used to state on their website that they never mixed men and women in halls but it appears that they do now.0 -
So clearly there is no current requirement to have an MMR to secure a place in halls. Your comment surprised me as I have experience of 3 different Uninversities in recent years and none of them asked for evidence of MMR.0

Rubbish, three of my sons have been to University ( all graduating in the last few years ) and none of them have had the MMR nor ever been asked about it.
just a quick post to say my son is in his 1st year of a radiotherapy course at Liverpool he has been called in for an Occupational Health interview next Thursday - originally I thought it might be to assess him as he has a physical disability- but on making further enquiries it is because he only had the 1st MMR ( my elder son has ASD) and not the 2nd one and also because he hasn't had a BCG test ( his school stopped doing them)
We believe that he will have to be given both of these vaccinations in order for him to remain on his NHS course.0
