MMR & autism Not just bad science but also falsified

Not current but I'd hardly call 2005 ancient. You'd really need to get hold of the application pack to find out more. Could their rationale be that they mixed student nurses into the regular halls and didn't want them carrying diseases into hospitals?0

just a quick post to say my son is in his 1st year of a radiotherapy course at Liverpool he has been called in for an Occupational Health interview next Thursday - originally I thought it might be to assess him as he has a physical disability- but on making further enquiries it is because he only had the 1st MMR ( my elder son has ASD) and not the 2nd one and also because he hasn't had a BCG test ( his school stopped doing them)
We believe that he will have to be given both of these vaccinations in order for him to remain on his NHS course.
One of my sons graduated from Liverpool in July, he lived in halls in his first year and he was never asked about his MMR status. It may be because it is an NHS course rather than a university rquirement.0 -

yes- i did wonder that myself - he will be going to his 1st placement at the end of january and I think it may be to do with ensuring his health and also that of the people undergoing radiotherapy as obviously their immune systems will be severely depleted and he could easily pass something on.0 -

Whatever their rationale if it is not advertised as a requirement it would not be enforcable. Strange that they had that in their accom packs in 2005 and yet it is not on their website now. Maybe it has been challenged?0 -
Isn't this because we're now better at diagnosing these conditions? I'm pretty sure that I'd be classed as at least mildly autistic if I was a child now - and my dad certainly would be. But no, we're just described as "a bit weird".
Certainly my time at school there wasn't any weird kids.
I don't believe we are seeing more Autistic kids because of better diagnosing at all.
Nowadays there are at least five ASD kids per classroom, not per school but per classroom.*SIGH*0 -
my third son however was absolutely fine until he had the first dose of vaccine - I took a beautiful, sunny, happy baby in for his vaccine and came home with a screaming, very ill child! and NO-ONE listened to me! the most I got was 'oh some babies react like that to this new vaccine'! he screamed day and night for weeks! then he wouldnt be cuddled, he developed severe asthma, he was hyperactive............. he didnt have the next two doses! and I am so glad he didnt!
we don't have any numbers/letters after our names.

How many weird kids was there in your class, when you were at school?

There was a weird kid in my class 30 years ago, and having an Asd child of my own I now can see she was probably autistic.
There aren't 5 Asd kids in my Ds's class, there is 1 in the whole school. The official figures are 1 in 100 children so don't know which schools you are talking about with 5 per 30!
Despite having one ASD child I was not advised my subsequent children shouldn't have the MMR contrary to what meritaten has said, and they have had it with no problems. Measles is a potentially fatal disease, mumps can lead to infertility and rubella can cause serious disabilities in unborn children, so in my opinion all those who can safely be vaccinated against these risks should be to protect those whose immune systems are so compromised they are unable to be vaccinated, and who could well die if they caught any one of these conditions from an unvaccinated child.0 -

Plenty of schools in the Highlands 5 kids per class
1 ASD kid in the whole school WOW certainly not come across that.*SIGH*0 -

They may "recommend" he has the vaccine(s) and will definitely encourage it but they can't actually do anything if he refuses. There is no way any UK university can expel you from a course because you refuse a vaccine. Nurses and doctors don't have to be vaccinated either. If you aren't, you get treated the sane way as a "non responder".0 -

So many jokes there, but so little time :rotfl:
There ARE five Asd children in Dd's class but she goes to a special needs school for children on the spectrum, and class sizes are that small. 5 per class is way way over the average, particularly if this is most classes in the school. Ds's 1 per school (a one form entry London primary) is far more in line with the official figures.0
