June 2012 brides

just found this thread, can i join? getting married 9th june 2012 and cant wait!!!!!!!!
Planning is going well for me, got venue sorted and the hotel is doing a package that has lots included in the price like a full drinks package, honeymoon suite for the night, dj, chair and table covers, wedding breakfast and buffet for night, 3 tier wedding cake, cake stand and knife, master of ceromonies, 2 bouquets of flowers for mums or to say thanks to whoever.................think thats it.
Have also got my photohrapher sorted, my dress was made to measure in china for £100 (and is soooo gorgeous) got my shoes (designer shoes from ebay £50) and a tiara. Friends have helped me with the some thing old and borrowed: one has given me a gorgeous austrian crystal necklace and another has lent me an equally qorgeous braclet.
My friend who is also my hairdresser is gonna do hair and make up as a wedding present so FREE (she is really good to and i have been amazed at how good she makes me look when shes done it for me in the past)
Invites are wooden roses in our colour theme with the invite printed onto a gift label type thing tied on with coloured ribbon.
Same for the names on the tables.
Going to buy the mens/boys cravat ties and hankie things, and looking into buying suits rather than renting.
Flowers are gonna be done by a family member of a friend at mates rates
so not much left to sort out.

Hi All,
My OH and I are wanting to ask for money for our Honeymoon & add a small gift list for people who don't like to give money. We want to put it into a poem but I am no good at that type of thing!
This is the one we are using if it helps?
The date has been set and we'd love you to come
to celebrate our wedding, a long way for some
all you must do is decide what to wear
then polish your jewellry and comb up your hair
Dont worry about gifts, dont buy us a yacht
the things we need we've already got
our home is quite compact, we may have to move
then out storage and space will surely improve
Dont go out shopping or get yourself stressed
dont alter your plans for a pre wedding rest
if you want to be generous, despite what we've said
the save all the hassle and do this instead.............
Dont know how to word this but will give it our best shot
contributions are most welcome, we'll go somewhere hot!
a honeymoon would be marvelloue, to start off our life
in our long winding journey, as new husband and wife.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Becca I'm really sorry you're being let down again
Making me paranoid now...maybe I need to get on with planning the cake!
Our wedding rings are ready now, yay! Not going to pick them up yet as we're on holiday next week, need to pay the remaining balance & still haven't 100% decided on an engraving, but hey ho!:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Was wondering what other people are doing for their favours? We recently moved into our house and there's a plum tree in the garden so I've raided it and am making plum jam! Bought 100 wee jam jars from ebay for £32 and have been making jam like there's no tomorrow!
Dead pleased with it becuase it makes it more personal, they're free and by the end of the weekend (hopefully!) I'll have all our favours sorted! :T0 -
I was thinking of doing two different kinds of favours...seeds in miniature glass bottles with corks, preferably a flower from my bouquet so avalanche/sweet avalanche roses/vermeer calla lillies, although I am not very green fingered & cannot find these seeds anywhere! This is where someone tells me they're bulbs, haha. This would be for those not fond of sweets, & a candy bar for those without a garden/not really interested in the seeds. Both would kinda fit with the style of our wedding.
What do you think? I like the jam idea but would be scared to make all that as I've never made jam before! Good luck!:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Our cake maker is moving and doesn't want to honour any orders. However rather than letting us know, she posted on facebook!! Totally stressed as don't have time to find one!

I love the idea of seeds for your bouquet flowers, any left over/not taken by guests and you can plant them in your garden and they should be up in time for your 1st anniversary!
Scarily I'd never made jam before either! I did 2 test batches (thankfully, the first was so well set the knife nearly bent getting it out of the jar!) so hopefully I have it a bit more refined now! I keep doing small batches just in case I mess it up hehePernicious wrote: »I was thinking of doing two different kinds of favours...seeds in miniature glass bottles with corks, preferably a flower from my bouquet so avalanche/sweet avalanche roses/vermeer calla lillies, although I am not very green fingered & cannot find these seeds anywhere! We're not doing favours. We've splashed out on a chocolate fountain and cupcakes instead! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Becca - put the word out about needing a cake to family and friends, some may know someone who doesnt do them professionally but is handy with cake and icing. I do them as a hobby for friends but have done a few for friends of friends.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22
