Hello again everyone!
I'm glad to hear people's plans are coming along well, unfortunately for me work has been manically busy and I'm just about keeping my head above the water, however I'm just having a break before I continue with the dreaded planning so I thought I'd pop in and say hi.
No news on the wedding front, apart from still struggling with a hotel (the one I was contacting said they could let me stay in the room until 12, but the wedding's at 2... )
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I could do then please let me know! (The OH said that I should travel from here to there, but that'd be around 2 hours in the car in my dress and I've already booked hair and make up!)
Anyways, am off out for a catch up with one of my lovely bridesmaids tonight so hopefully I should feel a lil more human! (I just hope I manage to finish off planning and resources tomorrow!)
Take care everyone!❤Planned our wedding, still planning lessons❤

Our cake maker is moving and doesn't want to honour any orders. However rather than letting us know, she posted on facebook!! Totally stressed as don't have time to find one!
Welcome newbies!
Omg! What terrible business practice, what if you hadn't seen that?! I really hope you find someone reliable soon - what kind of cake did you want?I love the idea of seeds for your bouquet flowers, any left over/not taken by guests and you can plant them in your garden and they should be up in time for your 1st anniversary!
Scarily I'd never made jam before either! I did 2 test batches (thankfully, the first was so well set the knife nearly bent getting it out of the jar!) so hopefully I have it a bit more refined now! I keep doing small batches just in case I mess it up hehe
I finally used my noggin & googled if the lillies/roses grew from seeds or bulbs & it turns out they are bulbs, BUT I am also having lisianthus in my bouquet as a slightly cheaper bloom to add to it, & these do grow from seeds so I think I will be using these
Ah that's a good idea, get some practice in first! You could make/buy some cute labels from ebay to put on the jars, maybe with a little ribbon round the top too, I think they will go down great! We're not doing favours. We've splashed out on a chocolate fountain and cupcakes instead!
Mmm, we saw a MASSIVE chocolate fountain at a wedding fair & I really wanted to do it, but the price was insane! It was very yummy thoughYour guests will love it!
I'm off on holiday very early Monday morning so I wish you all the very best in my absence, happy planning ladies! xx:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

loved the poem, similar dilemma here.
OH and me have everything we need, so we don't want our guests to buy us anything..
But if anything for those that still insist on giving something we would prefer gift vouchers for B&Q and Wicks (every weekend we seem to be in either buying something or other)
so was wondering what is the correct way of saying no thanks to gifts but we could do with some vouchers....
Side note.
The dress is here, took a big risk which has paid off,
https://www.lightinthebox.com/
The dress was custom made for me and took just over 2 weeks for it to be made and shipped to me from China,
a few things to be aware of, the dress is lovely, although they had all my measurements the dress is still too big (no problem for me my best friend is a dressmaker and wanted to make adjustments anyway)
The dress is made very quickly, but not with loving care... threads not snipped off etc, but again not a problem for my dressmaker.
Import tax... be very aware that when it is delivered you will have to pay tax on your dress.. no ifs and buts...
£112 (i think ) for the dress to be made and shipped.... £33 at the door to the delivery company no warning, luckily the guy was happy to come back the next day with dress so that i could go get money and have it waiting. I guess if i search for the small print on the website it would say something.. but just to warn all those who do try this way, make allowances to pay the import tax at your front door before you can take delivery.
overall i am pleased with my dress it is what i wanted. and still cheaper for me this way.0 -

We are paying £385 for approx 150 guests, so a little over £2 per head and we aren't having dessert for our sitdown meal which would be £5 x 50 so we're looking at it as a bit over £100 extra to give all our guests dessert! Plus that's for 3 hours.
Have a lovely holiday xNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Gemm that sounds like quite a good bargain then!
Just been to a wedding show with my mum that had a MoB fashion show, shes found a dress she really likes!First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
quick question - Do you really need bridesmaids?!?!?!?!?
I did have 3 close friends i had asked but OH's sister decided she was one too so somehow ended up with 4, and my 2 boys as page boys. Am getting married at the hotel so figure my entourage (LOL!) is way to big. So now wondering if i can do with just my 2 boys. Will save me money on dresses, hair and make up and im sure my friends will understand (they have done their weddings on a budget too)
OH is only having a best man and no ushers to trim the cost of suits.
Anyone else not having bridesmaids??December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Got her to choose her own dress(under mums guidance) and her mum and dad very happy to pay for it and shoes as she chose one she can wear lots all year.
So, absolutely no stress or expense with one small delightful bridemaid and no best man.
My advice would be to pare back and keep it simple. That's what we did and we had a wonderful day (well, 3 hrs in total, lol) And our guests are inundating us with messages of how lovely it was and how our love shone through.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Planning is going well for me, got venue sorted and the hotel is doing a package that has lots included in the price like a full drinks package, honeymoon suite for the night, dj, chair and table covers, wedding breakfast and buffet for night, 3 tier wedding cake, cake stand and knife, master of ceromonies, 2 bouquets of flowers for mums or to say thanks to whoever.................think thats it.
Have also got my photohrapher sorted, my dress was made to measure in china for £100 (and is soooo gorgeous) got my shoes (designer shoes from ebay £50) and a tiara. Friends have helped me with the some thing old and borrowed: one has given me a gorgeous austrian crystal necklace and another has lent me an equally qorgeous braclet.
My friend who is also my hairdresser is gonna do hair and make up as a wedding present so FREE (she is really good to and i have been amazed at how good she makes me look when shes done it for me in the past)
Invites are wooden roses in our colour theme with the invite printed onto a gift label type thing tied on with coloured ribbon.
Same for the names on the tables.
Going to buy the mens/boys cravat ties and hankie things, and looking into buying suits rather than renting.
Flowers are gonna be done by a family member of a friend at mates rates
so not much left to sort out.
and they say planning a wedding is stressful :rotfl:
Currently dress shopping and came on here to ask about the Dresses made in China situation????
Where did you order yours from and what info did you give them????
Thanks in advance for your help!!!!0 -
hiya, i got mine from ebay. They sent me an email asking for colour and a list of measurements they wanted as its made to measure. The material is gorgeous and its a heavy dress (i expect all wedding dresses are heavy?) the embrodary (sp?) is good and has crystals already sewn in, my mum is just having to tidy up the ends on some of them as sticking out. My mate also got her dress from china via ebay and went for a very simple dress which her and her sister added bits to.
i have been very lucky a lot of stuff brides normally sort out has come in my package. my aim is to have everything sorted by feb next year so then i can sit back and enjoy the run up to the wedding without turning into a bridezilla lol!December 2018: £20,850.24.
