Morning everyone, hope everyone had a good weekend. I have a few days off now. Off to give notice this afternoon.
Found out this weekend my day has booked us to go to Thailand for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. We are so lucky, we would never have been able to afford to go on honeymoon otherwise.

Definitely Pern. My fil hasnt offered to help or contribute at all :( makes me sad for oh. That's why he's not going on invites!
    I'm trying to diy it!

Too right! I know sometimes people can't afford to contribute or simply don't want to, but they shouldn't then expect to get to look as if they did!

I think my OH's parents only contributed to ensure all the family members they wanted there were invited...I overheard a delightful conversation between future MIL & OH where she was asking how much my parents are contributing because it's traditional for the bride's father to pay  Could not believe it!!! Especially since they're far better off than my parents, & they only have the 1 daughter, whereas my Dad has 4...although 1 is already married & doesn't bother with us & the other 2 I don't think will be getting married any time soon. Not in a rude way but 1 is currently single & the other although in a relationship is with a married man who although separated, cannot afford to divorce his crazy ex wife without losing access to his daughter...& my sister is pregnant at the moment too, so will have a lot on her plate come August!

Where are you thinking of getting your sweets from? & how are you going to display it?

Ooh how lovely! Thailand sounds amazing, I've never been there before. Very generous of your Dad too, what a fantastic wedding gift.
I'm not sure what's going on with our honeymoon at the moment, after getting some quotes from florists I need another £180 to get the basics, let alone what we'd really like...why on earth are flowers so expensive?? Half tempted to say sod it & get fake flowers, but I'd really prefer real ones...But anyway yes, honeymoons, might have to scale that back a bit, I think Hawaii is definitely too far out of our reach :(

  • Afternoon guys,

Had to come and post because otherwise I'm going to go totally crazy!!!

My caterer (also a good friend!) was over 2 nights ago and we were coming up with menu ideas and I said in a couple of weeks we should meet up and I'd show her the function room, you know to tell how I'd like it set out and find out her opinion on place names etc. I mean it's her living and she'd probably have more of an idea than most!

Well, I've explained on another thread that the tables are set out in an off centre horseshoe shape with the centre being a sunken dance floor, so I will honestly need a bit of advice, but on the plus side kids could mess around down there if they get a bit bored and won't be in anyones eye-line and the disco lights won't be too bright or anything!

Anyway, back to the point, I got a text message last night from her saying that she'd just been over to have a look and we really need to talk as she doesn't think it's suitable at all!!!

H2B thinks it's because she works at another club in town and gets some sort of bonus if she lets out their function room, but I don't know!

He's also not to happy as she apparently told him I was definately having a hen do whether he liked it or not when we'd already said we'd just go out after, cos of the long weekend, with close family that are staying down here!

I know many people that have had parties/weddings there and no complaints, and I really don't know how or what to reply to her!

Sorry for the essay, had to get it off my chest!

Kaz, she's obviously just trying to get herself some more business! It's your venue and you think it's perfect and it's not her place to say that it's not suitable and she should have looked with you! Poor you, it's not the stress you need!
