I am giving notice on Monday, little bit scared! haha! OH better get all the queations right!

Sammy, i bought my dress in a shop in Penzance. They were very pleasant, however did not enjoy the experience at all. Nothing worse than standing there half naked (i'm not exactly skinny)

They are not orering my dress until December as i am losing weight (i refused to let them order the dress in the size i was according to the size chart).

    February GC £26.68/£250

Yes thats the one Gemmzie. I would recommend that shop to anyone, the 2 ladies (forgot their names) were so helpful, and tried to relax me as much as possible.

And the chucked in a free Ronald Joyce bridesmaid dress that should have cost £200 :T

    I've been Money Tipped!

My bms are arranging mine - total surprise other than where we are going. Basically I am having a typical hen night weekend away with my closest friends (6 of us) then having a "spa day" at my house with a meal out at night for everyone else a few weeks later.

spoony nice to see you! How are you getting on? Manic end of term?!

Lovely about the dresses. I am going bm dress shopping this weekend!

Excellent :T I got 30% off my dress in the sale so I could actually sell it for more than I paid for it

Just a warning, I bought a book on wedding crafts and it had advice on the wording in there, however I tried that in my test invites and my mum was quite horrified that it didn't say they were hosting. I tried to explain to her that it was because my OH and I were paying for the majority of the wedding and both sets of parents were contributing a smaller equal amount. I don't think she was convinced though - might have to change it to something more traditional that keeps both sets of parents happy since they're contributing towards the cost!

I've got a feeling my parents are going to do exactly the same...I want to word it some along the lines of "Perni & Perni's OH, together with their parents request the pleasure of your company at their wedding...." (Obviously with real names :p) as we will be paying for the majority (About 8k), future hubby's parents are contributing 2k, & so far my parents have contribued £500, with hints of more but never confirming anything...so I can't really work with imaginary figures, it's so frustrating! But I know the bulk will definitely be me & OH which is fine but I'd like the invitations to reflect that...I feel it should be the people hosting mentioned not the smallest contributor on there as it's "traditional" as they're not really hosting it!

    Hey girls!

It sounds like everyone is well and is having lots of fun planning!

Nothing much to report apart from my sister have bought her bridesmaid shoes which I haven't ok-ed so am slightly annoyed with that especially as she refuses to wear the bridesmaid dresses I've found... Grrrr... Sisters!

Congrats to the girls ordering their dresses and setting their dates :)

Next thing for me is to give notice but that'll have to wait until next month when I'm not at work!

If it's any consolation I sent a FB message to my 4 adult bridesmaids a couple of weeks ago now, OH's sister & my best friend both replied within a couple of days that it was fine with them, but my own sister's (who I know have been on FB) have said nothing...they don't really seem too interested at all to be honest! I mean I know no one will ever be as excited about it as I am, but still a quick "that's fine" or "Not really liking x about it" would be nice.

I have thought but am coming up blank lol, I want a weekend away somewhere, preferably abroad but I don't think anyone would come as it would cost too much, or they're busy...I don't know what to do, my best friend is up for planning something bless her but she wants to do it along with my sisters but I don't think they'll be interested in that either! In fairness 1 of them is pregnant, due in August so I get she has other things on her mind but a little interest would be nice.

That sounds fantastic, where are you going, abroad or staying in the UK?

    Not having one because:
    1- More hassle
    2- Not really into them
3- People are having to travel to the wedding and are paying out enough already. If they have spare money I'd rather they took up the offer to come to Vegas with us for the first few days of honeymoon :)

Some people find it really important, and that's fine, this is just our take on the whole thing.

Pern - we're doing nearly exactly the same! I'm paying the most each month, then my OH, and then the parents are putting in £1500 each. Plus his mum is making my dress and paying for the cake so I was a bit annoyed that my mum was questioning the invites. I'd put something similar to what you were thinking. I can see myself being childish over it and starting to take people off the guest list!
Rahven, I feel the same about hen parties. Not really interested in them - I'd rather have a pajama party with cocktails and chicks flicks with some of the girls, than go out and spend money that I'd rather spend on the wedding! My mum also wants us to have a girly day at Eden Hall :)
The girls at work have said that I've got no choice and they'll be arranging one for me - I've threatened not to attend, because I went to one arranged by them last month where they made the bride-to-be do loads of dares and kiss people which I'm really uncomfortable with.
    Getting married: 21/06/12! :D
    Current weight loss: 2st!!!
