I was supposed to be getting my dress today but the lady had to cancel :-( gutted! On the up-side today is my belated birthday celebration! OH is making meFrench toast while i stay in bed and i get to find out about one of my hen dos today!
Pern the best woman thing was about shoes. we had agreed she would buy her own because her suit worked out so expensive and oh turned round and said he was going to buy them. i just cracked because she isn't doing any "best man" jobs - no stag do, no speech and has done literally nothing! It just feels a bit unfair on my amazing bm because she's wearing shoes she already had. BW sent me a link to ones she was thinking about and they're gorgeous (Im only a wee bit jealous!) but they're £50. I don't want to make a big thing bout it but even if we paid half i think that'd be more than fair? (oops that turned into a bit of a rant!)

    8 weeks today!

just under 7 for me, no nails left to bite.

mens suits still not ordered, just told OH he HAS to do it.
cake to be ordered from M&S next month (21 days before the big day)
need to decorate the cake and ordered cake decorating kit off ebay....

another friend turned up with other bits for use with the cake, from her wedding cake years ago, it includes pillars that need a spray, she said we could drill them to use dowel.

Local ladies making sandwiches and quiche (likes of out of this world)
so less to get on the buffet side, been buying crates of beer of offers the last few months same with wine.

oh and i found this picture, Cascading flower pom strands

Sorry to hear about the best woman cathy, the only diva we've had is the best man. His father had a bit of a chat with him and he's behaving a better now.
    Getting married: 21/06/12! :D
    Current weight loss: 2st!!!
  • Joining in here lateish, but I'm getting married 8th June!

Pretty much everything is sorted, need to book the cars still though! Keep meaning to do it, but keep forgetting. We have the date booked with them, we just need to chose the cars.

I still need to buy a guestbook as the one we won just has 'Guest name' then 'Gift' written in it, no space for messages.
  • Oh I'm also needing to get some gel nails put on asap as I bite my nails and skin around them and my nails/fingers look AWFUL, but when I have falsies on, I don't pick or bite them, so getting them on now will give me enough time to get nice looking nails :)

I'm exactly the same MrsShawToBe - hopefully getting students at local college to do it next week for £20 :money:

We're putting off TTC until after we're married, I'd hate to know I was pregnant on the day and not be able to have any champagne or seafood!

  • I'm getting mine done for £8.50 at the local college. £20 is a lot for a student to do it I think! Can get them done by someone qualified for that near me!

We're putting off TTC until mid-late next year as we have money to pay back from the house deposit to family etc, plus it'll be nice to be 'different' I guess. Most people these days get married then TTC straight away, and while I'd like to do that, we can't so :)

Hello ladies! Hope you're all doing ok.

Just under 8 weeks until our wedding - 23rd June!

We've got maybe 1/3 of our RSVPs. We gave until 5th May, so hopefully we'll get a few more before we have to start chasing people.

Here are some of our developments:
    1) I've had my dress shortened, and it looks (and feels) great!!!!!!
    2) Paid the balance at the ceremony venue
    3) Arranged a venue visit with the photographer
    4) cut out lots of triangles out of old maps to make bunting with

Still got quite a lot to do, mainly:
    1) Organise booze
    2) book wedding night hotel / B&B
    3) Table plan
    4) get the Mr some shoes
    5) pay for everything

    AND LOTS MORE.

However, it's all going ok at the moment! Hope it is for all of you as well :) x

Thanks for the explanation Gemmzie, & Becca how exciting! Good luck. We're not planning on that for a while as there's a few things we want to do first, like go travelling. Fortunately time is on our side! I don't think there's anything wrong with my dress, it's just me getting self conscious :( I'm not comfortable with all the attention being on me! I can't decide if I should keep the straps I got added or ask her to take them off & make it strapless again... My MoH is not helping as all she says is I look "stunning" either way.

Cathy - A belated happy birthday! I think £50 shoes for a wedding are quite expensive...but everyone has different budgets. If we were doing that for my adult bridesmaids that would be £200  Unless it's her thank you gift as well I'd stick with paying half, either that or argue your bridesmaids deserve shoes too!

UmbraFeles - Your guest book is lovely! So much better than the overpriced stuff on eBay. That reminds me I need to crack on & make ours!

Two months exactly for me today, eek!!
    :idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57
    :dance:Current Debt: £0 :j

Thanks everyone. It's not going to happen before the wedding, we're not that lucky but I've more come off the pill to get my body ready.

Umbra - looks lovely. We're having a signing frame rather than a book.

What's everyone got left to do?

Ooo I'm having gel nails on the day - are they good?!
