  • Hello everybody  Not had time to read through the thread properly but will do so later. Well I just had to come on here and post. I do the asda price gurantee and the most I'd have has been about 80p - as little as 2p most times. BUT I have just done the Christmas shop receipt and am now in possession of a voucher for £3.84 as my shop would have been cheaper at, of all places, Waitrose! I'm giddy with excitement :money: :D :rotfl:Also one of my friends has just bought a central flat in Oxford and I've been told we can stay there whenever we want! Coupled with OH's mate who he does wedding driving for in the summer offering us his "lodge" in Wales for star gazing opportunities it looks like 2011 is finally giving us some good luck (hope I didn't speak too soon there.....). January grocery purchases so far due to all the stuff left over is 1 loaf and 1 pint of milk so that's doing well.....

Apart from that not much happening. Made a balti last night using up the mushrooms and peppers and it was quite nice. The remains are for OH's dinner tonight when he comes in from football as I am still feeling very queasy all the time. Haven't got a clue what to have for lunch and as all the washing is up to date and the decorations are all safely down I'm at a bit of a loose end....So I might make a start on one of my Dr Who DVDs I got - well I'll force myself...;)

Bramble - is musicmagpie any good or do you have to give them really popular stuff like Robbie Williams etc? I've got some stuff I'm thinking of getting rid of...

Joeck68 and Julie - I gave up my very busy and stressful job in the NHS in 2008 to work from home as a medical virtual PA and whilst I have to say it's not paid me anywhere near as much as my old job did the lack of stress is much better - even if there was a threat of redundancy for OH about 3 months after I left, typical. Yes sometimes money is a bit tight BUT we make it through and it's worth it not to have the constant dread of work. We work the longest hours in Europe in this country so no wonder everyone is so stressed/depressed.....

Right off now to look at e-bay for cushion cover material - fat quarters should do it and then Dr Who it is. This is sheer luxury....
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

That's terrible. I hope the persons concerned were brought to book for this!

I am just wasting time on here. Need to be getting some housework done :o:o <slaps wrist>

JackieG - Could you ask on Freecycle for an old phone to tide you over? You can even buy basic Nokia types for £10 I think these days or does it need to have bells and whistles too? That way you could perhaps save for a new phone but still be on contact in the interim. Assuming DS needs to have his phone back.......

Flutterby - thanks for the info re NCIS. What can I say my list is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long ;)

To have a look at prices I put in a Dire Straits CD of H's and it gave me a price of 30 pence  OK we have a lot of CD's but at this rate they'd need a skip to collect them all and I'd only make about £20 :rotfl:

Another £1 in my Sistercas fund :) One of my friends from on here said yesterday it sounds like a collection for a home for old nuns :rotfl:

As for the phone, well, I was thinking of getting one soon, and OH has £24 in his orange phone fund, and has just changed back to a contract phone, so I think I can get one which will fill my needs for about £20, so I am going to do the musicmagpie thing too, as I have literally hundreds of the blooming things taking up space, and I am not spending a bress penny of my savings on a phone when we need to eat :D (I wasn't accepted onto my local freecycle, did I not tell you that story? Snooty so and so's! :rotfl: )

Afternoon all, just a quick post as I'm at work. My sausage casserole was yummy, they were pork and chorizo sausages and were very warming. I've brought my own lunch in again for the 3rd day running :p Not sure what I'm going to have for tea tonight, just me again. DD has lasagne that was made last week and I froze a portion.

I'd like to start my meal plan tonight but I run out of ideas and inspiration so I may well be back later for ideas.

Weather is horrid here, constant rain :( makes me feel blue.

.... He's had a bad tummy and has burn't his bum, have tried sudocream and metatium (sp?) but has not shifted so will see if i can get something on script for him.

I used to use either natural yogurt or beaten egg white.....and terry nappies helped a bit too (but this was 20-odd years ago!)

Ooh, how did you get started? I'd love to do this, and as I work for my local council who have to find £50m+ in savings, things are distinctly rocky...

Can't believe what is happening today!!!!! And its all good! Took boys to school - they walked in hand in hand - instead of screaming at each other!!! Then my neighbours men (he's a builder) turned up to fix my roof (storm damage). Whilst they were fixing it, I shovelled 3 bin bags of dog poo (which OH had said he'd already done - grrrrrrr!). After cleaning up, I popped over to see my neighbour and casually said that I'd been thinking about removing the stud wall between the dining room and kitchen. The men are back here now (as I type) and are removing it - so by the time the boys are home from school it will be done - gone - vanished! Amazing.

OH came home on lunch break in a good mood and seemingly started sorting out his cubby hole. I think personally that its all just the medication I'm on and that I'm dreaming - I'll wake up shortly and be back in the doss hole again! Have also decided to revamp the inside of the house by moving furniture etc around to try and get things to fit better. I am cooking on GAS!!!! xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
