Hi, this is the Daily Thread for thursday 6th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all,

Raining here, and seems cold too, I would rather go back to frosty days than have rain.

OH came down this morning to find that the dog had had an upset tummy in the night :(, at least he got up first :D

Off to work today, so a quick swish and swipe this morning, will do a wash tonight. Dinner tonight is sausage chips and spaghetti hoops :D, have recently re discovered spaghetti, and our local cheap shop had 4 tins of Heinz for £1, and the same with beans, so stocked up a bit :T

Yesterday i popped into the co-op for some bananas, and picked up 6 x kiwi for 20p and 2 x caulis for 15p each, I dont often get bargains so I was very pleased, gave my mum a cauli.

Ok better got on, have good days all xx

Morning Halight & Hester and all who follow xx, Hope you're both well. Neck feeling a bit better today - probably a result of the muscle relaxants from the doctor - they'd make a horse keel over - so I'm a wee bit groggy!!!! Am not driving (except the children to school!) so no work for a few days.

Have re- thought what I'd like to do with the house, so this year I'm going to replace the gas fire with a multifuel stove (already in the garage, just needs fitting); replace the carpets in the dining / living room with wood flooring (already ordered to beat the VAT increase!); would like to knock down the wall between the kitchen and dining room to make it one large room - will make much more sense. Will get quote from builder neighbour and start saving. When it is one large room I'll put a curtain rail upto be able to hang a heavy curtain to keep warmth etc in when needed.

OS wise today we'll have chilli & rice I think - something easy yet warming. Youngest son spent most of last night emptying the contents of his drawers all over his floor - so he has a fair bit of cleaning up this morning. Well he is 5 and knew what he was doing was wrong.

Anyway, Love to all, specially the poorlies and those who need a hug or two. XXX
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning everyone.

Really enjoyed watching the start of new season of NCIS last night, and not only because of Mark Harmon! :o

Got my lunch in the vacuum flask and ready to go to work, got an office day which will let me catch up on all sorts of outstanding stuff :j which I have been ignoring.

Nothing to buy today so lots of OS.

BB - not my chicken kebabs but I hope you enjoy them. I'm stir frying loads of veggies at night and adding a wallop of protein and already starting to feel better (energy, enthusiasm, motivation etc). Much as I love chocolate it's very draining and drags my body down. :( I've just stumbled across a great book (whilst decluttering) which I bought ages ago called 'the low carb gourmet' and it's got some fantastic recipes in which are about to be tested.

Hope everyone is keeping well and warm and has a great day.

Dark and damp here but not sure about the temperature as I haven't ventured out yet.

Feeling much better today, everything ached yesterday and no matter what meds I took it wouldn't go away, just felt like my legs were going to give way underneath me. Throat is still sore but achy joints gone, will be just doing what I feel able to do today. I actually got a half decent night's sleep which I think has helped enormously, also took the plunge and saw the Dr yesterday have gone back on meds but am being referred for counselling - long overdue and feel so much more positive at this small step forward.

Dinner last night was fish fingers and chips for boys and egg and bacon for DH, that's what he fancied and the first dinner he's wanted and eaten since Saturday, so looks like we may be heading in the right direction at last. I didn't really want anything but did have some crackers and cheese, not at all good for the diet but have just lost appetite completely with this bug, but did wake up this morning feeling hungry, the first time since Sunday/Monday. Dinner tonight will be chicken portions or pork chops, haven't decided yet, but need to try and get a proper meal inside everyone.

Will be menu planning, and writing shopping list for tomorrow, washing, drying and ironing if I'm able, and some housework today.

Going away on Saturday night for my birthday, nice dinner and hotel room just me and DH, some quality adult time on the cards I think!

Need to crack on otherwise I'll be on here all day and nothing will get done.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

I am another one who had a bad night, joints are so sore at the mo:( - I might have a couple more tramadol and have a nap later.

Pack ups done and still screaming at DS who is firmly entrenched in his pit.

Had a reminder from the dentist but I am skint so it will have to wait. I can't afford to keep going every six months. The same goes for the optician, my last pair of glasses cost £420  and that was because the lenses are so expensive. It really annoys me that the people who really have medical reasons for glasses have to pay through the nose for a pair - and don't get me going on designer frames when it is hard enough being able to afford a bog standard frame  so that is on the back burner unless I win the lottery. I think I will try glasses direct next time I have a test.

Oh I am a reet grumpy cow this morning. Sorry lack of sleep and pain is not a good combination :(

So I will say BFN and hopefully I will be in a better frame of mind later. x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Morning peeps

freezing cold here this morning and quite treacherous underfoot

Yesterday we had lots of heavy rain and everything froze overnight so the ground is like a sheet of black ice, will have to be very careful when i go out soon.

Doggies to walk and work to go to then i have a welcome day off tomorrow, i need to spend some time decluttering and i`m quite looking forward to it.

One of my new years resolutions is to not turn on the pc as often as i get a bit sidetracked and end up waaay behind on all my jobs so i won`t be posting as often, it will be fits and starts but i`ll still be around :p The only reason that i`m here today is because i forgot to turn on the washing machine last night so no washing to hang up before i go out :D Think i need to go back to sleep really as i can`t remember what i came online to post in the first place :rotfl:

Anyhow - my time is up and i need to shift my behind, have a cracking day peeps, catch up later.

    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
