Get the vehicle independently checked by someone who will go into court on your behalf if necessary."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Did you purchase it on finance. If so write to the finance company and ask them to investigate the concerns with the vehicle, I don't know if you'll be able to change it but they may help getting the repairs done. In regards to changing it, without taking a loss in value I don't know what to suggest

Hi Batgirl, sorry to hear you aren't getting on with your car. Rather than trade in again and lose a stack of cash, I'd get the car looked over by a good mechanic as suggested by others - tyres should be checked for tread depth, unusual wear patterns, the tracking ought to be checked as should the suspension components. Once it's had the OK, try to regain your confidence in what should be a fine car. I drove a 207 and have to say it was a perfectly decent car, so once yours is sorted I wouldn't worry about it. As for cost, a couple of hours labour for a mechanic to look over it is a lot cheaper than a 2 grand loss on trade in. Best of luck.Skip dipper and proud....0

Some of the replies on here have shocked me! You might want to go onto another motoring forum Batgirl, any would be friendly than here today! Some real know it all's! I've been reading these boards for a few months, but just joined tonight as I had a question to ask. This motoring board from what I've read is very unhelpful and full of smug folk just waiting to pounce on a person who has asked for help (a few exceptions granted!)
I use to have a Peugeot 207 SW and in my experience it wasn't a great car! After having a Ford (like yourself) I really noticed the driving experience to be quite poor. It often juddered when first started and would cut out unless you really accelerated hard. It went into the garage numerous times and they never solved the problem. I sold it soon after and went back to a Ford Mondeo Estate.
Not sure what to suggest, selling privately as has been suggested could help you recoup some money. If you have lost faith in the car, its not going to be pleasurable to drive anymore.

Thank you so much for this post and your help. I just wanted to assure you that the responses and attitudes on this thread are highly unusual. I have been part of MSE for years and years and found 99.9% of people supportive, friendly, polite and helpful so please don't be put off of MSE by a few arrogant ignorant people.

cant beleive this is still going on right
(any car + road tires) + ICE = NO GRIP :T
ice is slippy drive dont drive at 20mph on it0 -
Calm down.
Here's how I read it:
Single lane road: A road with 2 lanes. 1 in each direction, hence being able to over take.
Edit:
Batgirl, can you describe what happened when you lost control. did the car go light? did it pull to one side, were you accelerating, decelerating braking, steady driving?
Please the more info the better.
Well you are wrong then, a single lane road is just that a single lane, usually with passing places where one vehicle pulls over to allow the oncoming vehicle to pass.0 -
Would be worth you getting over on to a specific car forum for that model, they are usually full of real enthusiasts and more advice than you will ever need! You can compare yours then with lots of others too. I've read the first couple of pages and found a lot of the replies quite offish on here.. I use a specific forum for my car and have had had loads of help and advice specific to that model, worth a look
I'd get a knowledgeable friend to test drive it too, to see what they think, if they are covered on insurance that is. Always best going armed with extra info/advice/opinions when dealing with a dealer.0 -
Thank you HELPFUL advice :j:j:j:j it is still under complete warranty as only 11 months old. An independent garage sounds like a plan but again cost money (but less than the loss of trading in) what a nightmare - as I can see you understand.
Get an independant check by AA/RAC and if it finds anything dangerous present the report to the garage. This should cost arounf £100.
£100 vs a loss of £2000 if you make a rash decision and trade it in.0 -
OP I had time on my hands so was reading this to fill a gap. Unfortunately usual high percentage of keyboard warrior rubbish until I saw you mention you had actually hit the kerb! Pugs are normally fun little cars but the back ends really don't like being abused. The tyre probably did leak some air when the car clouted the kerb, but you should really have the car properly looked at to find if the car is still sitting square. If one back wheel is out of alignment (it doesn't take much) your car will be crabbing all over the place.0
