Not really, going brown is just the blood oxidising and had no relationship to food safety
These days everyone thinks meat should be red, hence supermarkets using red lights to enhance the colouring, and why properly aged meat is not often seen
Brownish is perfectly normal, and brown mince is perfectly useable [it goes brown when cooked anyway]
Thank you. You just beating me to posting this:).
I hate this obsession with 'red' meat.0 -
I think the first thing you should do with any such potatoes is take them out of any wet or damp bag immediately. Store them in a hessian bag or paper sack in a cool dark place. Check them regularly
Patted them down, left to dry a bit on the counter overnight, look great, have chucked in potato sack in outbuilding.
You are right about one making the lot go nasty, the smell of manky potato is not one I wish to exerience again soon
Thank you0 -
ive merged this with food safety
thanks

if it looks ok, smells ok then its ok to use. taste it on a bit of bread and if it tastes good its ok to use. best before are a guide only. if you have stored it well then its ok to use.0

Cloudyness is not a sign of 'off' oil - I bought a bottle last week and it was cloudy at the bottom.
If it smells ok, taste it. If it tastes ok then it is ok
Off oil stinks!!!0 -
