I make my own pasta sauce and I find the key is simmering it for a long time - an hour at least. This thickens it and seems to make it more tasty.

I confess though we do love that sauce and I always buy a couple of jars when its on offer. I know I should make a big batch of my own sauce and freeze it but there is nothing like grabbing a jar and heating it up with some pasta when you need a quick tea!

Ditto, and I also find you need to be liberal with sugar, herbs and tomato puree if you want it nice and rich.
  • Fresh garlic, one clove, minced into hot pan in butter.
Chopped onion, or toe nail style depending on taste.
    Fry fill onions are brown
Add tin of Waitrose Essential toms. Mush up as you go.

Add parsley, coriander, chilli, oregano to taste.

Add to chicken, mushrooms, or whatever.

    Add pasta, whip up.

Put in dish. Add grated cheese, mature English cheddar.
    Slam under grill
    Take out.

Serve, with chunky bread. Add wobbleade if needed.

    Say goodbye to LG sauces.

Use Waitrose tinned toms, they are really rich and beat supermarket cheap ones hands down. Oh, and for sugar, use to taste.

I love this sauce, usually just get the tomato and red pepper one but this one is equally as nice.

I agree it is expensive, it's 94p at Sainsburys until tomorrow and Asda £1 if that helps but I'd also be interested in trying to do it myself.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

our pasta sauce thread has loads of ideas. Just add some chopped chilli at the start or you could use chilli flakes.

    Ill merge this later

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
