    I never ate lamb until i was about 36!!!! (not unless you count a little bit in a kebab from a rank fish and chip shop lol)

    My other half cooks it in mint sauce, i could just die for it.
    Shame is its expensive and she says its bad for me,
    i really wish i never led such a sheltered life lol

    I bought some fresh chicken breasts from cash and carry yesterday at about 3pm and brought it home and left it on the side about 4pm. This morning i have woken up to find it there still in the bag. I have bagged it up and frozen it but unsure whether to use it.

    no guarantees but

    Two points I think. First is that your nose is a remarkably good indicator. This is how we survived through our evolution. That's how other wild animals still survive. If you want to avoid all risk then throw it away (but avoiding all risk would include throwing all food away all of the time!). Secondly, well-cooking meat destroys moist infections (but not poisons). So, If I were you, given the times you mentioned, when I was ready to eat the chicken, I would thoroughly defrost it, then wash it, so that I could smell the meat. If it smelt at all bad, I would throw it away. If it smelt good I would cook it well and enjoy it. We have to remember that even in-date, just killed chickens, may have infections that require good cooking.

    Assuming it looked and smelt fine before you froze it there's no reason why you shouldn't use it. I would ensure that it is thorough defrosted before cooking.

    Good morning fellow OS'ers, Just a quick one, I've finally inherited daughter for a couple of days (niece) and want to do some baking with her!!!:T I have some butter that I just found in the fridge that ran out on 30th July, my question is it still useable?

    Go for it. I only keep butter in for 'special' dishes so my pack is there until it's used up whatever the date. And to use an overused phrase - it never did me any harm!
