this morning ive made some soup with some of the chicken stock and meat left from last nights tea, i added some sweetcorn, herbs and tabasco, and then decided that i'd make it a bit creamy but healthy with some natural yoghurt, but it went a little curdled, ive blended it all with the hand blender and it now looks ok, is it safe to eat?

    It should be fine.
In order to avoid curdling in future, blend a little cornflower into the yoghurt before stirring it in, and don't let the mixture boil.

Should be fine. Curdled isn't the same as "off", although it can look the same.

of course you can eat it - nothing "poisonous" in a bit of curdled yogurt - esp blended up!

Understand your concern - anything curdled looks dodgy! However, in the case of yoghurt it is sort of soured already, so the heat hasn't changed the ingredient, just made it difficult to amalgamate! Adding cornflour (or potato flour) helps to stabalise it and make sure that it doesn't separate.

Ive just found two packs of fish in my freezer, both would of been frozen on the date of purchase - date stamps are

    Haddock Fillets: 22 Jan 2010
    Kipper Fillets: 26 April 2009:eek:

Shall I use them for a fish pie tomorrow or shall I admit defeat and bin them?

    Thanks in advance
  • I think they will be fine - I wouldnt put the kipper in fish pie personally tho, too many bones!
