Having just recovered from food poisoning myself on Thursday (BBQ) I would say no, even if it is safe it's not worth the risk.
If you have never had food poisoning before let me tell you it is horrific, I thought I was going to die!0 -
If it was cooked properly all the way through, and not left warm for hours in the shop, then it should be fine. Boil it up in something.
Chicken's usually fairly obvious if it's turned bad.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Hi all
I bought one of the flavoured rostisserie chickens from Tesco on Friday, cooled it and put it in the fridge - and promptly forgot about it!
My question is, will it still be OK to eat? It smells and tastes fine but on the bag it says 'Eat on day of purchase' The sensible part of me says it will be fine, but I don't want to poison the family :eek::eek:
I did think maybe I should cook it up in a curry or something in the hope that any germs would be killed off :think:
I think your idea of making into a curry is a good one. Give it a really good cook, nice and hot. It's been in the fridge. I've cooked many a raw chicken that has smelt 'not fine' and made sure that it's been cooked really well.I've added garlic to get rid of any slight aroma:D I've never had food poisoning and nor have the family.
For chicken that has already been cooked and cooled, I would probable prefer to cook it up into a nice Korma or other recipe just to be on the safe side

Sorry you got food poisoning:( Apparently BBQs can often cause problems because the food is not thoroughly cooked through, or is left around in the warm. Hope you're feeling OK now.0 -

Having tasted a reasonable chucnky bit off the leg about half an hour ago, I think if I have had no adverse effects by about 4 o'clock I'll whack it into a casserole dish with some madras paste, onion and peppers and cook through thoroughly. If it doesn't all get eaten then, I'll throw any leftovers away.0 -
My coleslaw will bw out of date by 2 days. What do u reckon do u think it will be ok0

Taste it - i find coleslaw does go off quite quickly and tastes 'fizzy' when you try abit.0

If you're gonna eat it (and lets face it a lot of us would) I would go with the thoroughly re-cook every time. There is a risk with food that is past it's ideal storage time, but a risk is not the same as a guarantee. There is more chance you will be fine than not. However if you are not then there is more chance the effects will be mild than moderate or severe. That said at two days is enough time for a bout of salmonella yes, and that ones a proper glued-to-the-loo beauty, so luck if you're very unlucky there goes your next 1-5 days. So the call is yours. In all probability though you will be fine as recooking should kill any issues off. Your call.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
