You'll be ok. Theres a lot of scaremongering talked about stuff like this esp wth regards to rice. I have done what they tell you not to do loads of times and been just fine.Enjoy your potatoes!

If you put cooked potatoes in the fridge they go slimy. Always cover and leave out but I too have forgotten to cover them and we are still alive, can leave leftover roasties out they make fantastic tortilla cos they got all the flavour from the meat joint( or not if your veggie!)

    Hi everyone,

A long term lurker I don't think I've ever actually posted in this section before. I made up a big batch of mince for shepherd's pie on Monday evening, portioned some out for that night, and left the rest in (covered) casserole dish to freeze into individual portions later. I then completely forgot about it and only realised with horror this morning that it was still sitting in there!

Would it still be OK to freeze it and use it another time seeing as it has been sitting in the fridge for 3 1/2 days? I'm inclined to eat it myself, but thought it would be best to ask the wisdom of the old style section!

I know it's a tricky area to advise about, and I'm not asking you to take the responsibility of telling me to eat it, but more wondering whether you would if you were in my position!

I'd freeze it, and then make sure it's piping hot before you eat it, to ensure any bugs are zapped :)

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the Food Safety thread to keep ideas together :)

    Hi all

I bought one of the flavoured rostisserie chickens from Tesco on Friday, cooled it and put it in the fridge - and promptly forgot about it!

My question is, will it still be OK to eat? It smells and tastes fine but on the bag it says 'Eat on day of purchase' The sensible part of me says it will be fine, but I don't want to poison the family :eek:

I did think maybe I should cook it up in a curry or something in the hope that any germs would be killed off
