Thanks for the answer but I'm definitely not feeding pigeons. They've already had at least 1/2 the peas and beans I sowed this year.0 -

Thanks. I think you're right but in the end I didn't even try the sniff test. I knew even if they smelled OK my mind would be telling me "Seven days is just too long", and would make me feel queasy.
2 or 3 days I might have tried them but 7 just seemed a step too far.0 -
I have some goats cheese that is 3 days past its date. Is it still OK to eat and if so, how much longer have I got to eat it before it goes off? It was bought to go into a goats cheese tart. Hard cheese I generally ignore the dates and cut off the mould as it appears (did this as a student and the habit has stuck) but I'm not sure about soft cheeses.

I would eat it raw with grapes, if unsure stick it in an omelet or on a pizza. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Give it a good sniff. That's what my dad always taught me and he was a food inspector.
Does it have ingredients in it that go off quickly? How strong is your stomach?
I'd more than likely eat it, but then I'll eat most things.0 -
