I often take left over stew from Fri to work on Monday and I am still alive...
Just keep it in the fridge and reheat it properly.0 -
Have changed my mind about stew for dinner on monday anyway, think we shall have foil baked rainbow trout, with fennel, ginger and chilli, with noodles and pak choi-can never make my mind up! I often have it out for 2-3 days and am sure it would be fine, but not in a stew mood at the moment (may change my mind on sunday night-I have been known to do that occasionally :rotfl: )0

mmmmmmm stew.
Many people do store cooked food for 3 or more days, but personally I have food poisoning paranoia, so I never leave it more than 2!Shrinking my mortgage!

Yes, should be fine. I'd keep it in the bottom of the fridge (coldest bit)0

Hi everyone,
After some opinions here please if thats ok!
I made goulash in the slow cooker yesterday, but ended up having to go round a friends instead as there was a bit of an emergency.
Goulash was made from whoopsie beef that was out of the freezer, and cooked on low for about 10 hours. The cooker was then switched off and the goulash has been sat in an unheated kitchen since last night. I won't be able to eat it till tomorrow night as am out tonight.
So... do I keep it in the fridge, and just give it a good reheat tomorrow? Or do I chuck it down the sink?
I'm leaning towards keep, but don't want to end up poorly!
TIA

I would keep it... freeze some, fridge some... reheat thoroughly and eat... unless you eyes or nose tell you different. We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. It does smell fine - really nice in fact... And I know my dad often used to leave stew out overnight and reheat the pot over and over to last him the week.
I think it's the whoopsie beef that I'm unsure about!

If the beef smelt OK when you put it IN the slow cooker, then it'll be fine now. Once it's cooked, it's cooked!0

Your dad wouldn't have known beef was on its dates though, dates haven't been around all that long. I can remember even at late as the early 90's most people took zero notice of them.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

I would be tempted to use the sniff and taste test, unless one of the people eating it is very young, old or poorly.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0
