I wouldnt personally do it that far ahead, why not do it on saturday? or do it on thursday and freeze the mince mixture and do the potatoes fresh?0
-
You could prep the whole thing and freeze whole til Sunday. I prob wouldn't mind doing it for myself but tend to take fewer risks with guests.0

i'd cook the mince and freeze it and make te mash fresh on day. i woulnd't cook a shepards pie that far in advance for friends let along my family who are even more important to me.0

Thanks all - might have a menu re-think.
People are staying Thursday night-Sunday and I have Thursday off work to get everything ready. I want to spend as little time in the kitchen as possible once they're here.0 -
Lasagne works really well as a pre-prepare and freeze meal"Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."— Frank Warren0

Im embarrassed to say that yesterday i found a jar of bbq marinaide in my cupboard that is 12 months out of date
Will this still be ok to use?
Thanks

If it's still unopened your BBQ marinade will be fine. It may not necessarily still be in the tip-top condition it was when it left the factory (which is what the "best-before" dates are all about) but edible it most certainly shall be.0

My 12 year old son has a friend who takes rice to school in an insulated cup so now he wants to do the same but I'm scared! I would definitely do it for myself but I don't want to make my little dude sick.
I've already cooked the rice, cooled it down quickly and put in the fridge and the plan is to re-heat it at 7:30am (adding some cheese and tuna which is what he wants) to be eaten at 12pm.
He's not a particually good eater and his sandwiches/snacks usually come home untouched so this would be ideal as he's asked for it ('it's the only thing I want in the world mum' lol).
The cup I've got is from poundland so how good it is I don't know.
Does anyone else do this?0 -
It should be fine, it's done a lot in bento boxes and is actually recommended on the packaging of some insulated ones so should be okay
If you rinse the flask with boiling water before hand and make sure the rice is piping hot it should hopefully be at least "warm" by lunch time even if the flask is a bit naff.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0
