  • Can anyone tell me if it's OK to cook out of date fish? It's cod in breadcrumbs, use by 18th Feb. Forgot about them in the fridge. Oops.

How do they smell? I suspect one sniff of 3 day old fish will give you your answer :)

No, don't even think about it :) I know its a waste of money and food. Buts its really not worth the risk.
  • Oh honestly, if it's been refrigerated since it was bought it will not have become inedible on the stroke of midnight on Friday night. No supermarket would sell anything without a certain amount of tolerance in the schedule. I'd sniff it and if it smelled OK I'd eat it without thinking twice about it.

I sometimes think this when I've got something in the fridge that has a use by yesterday - I think 'oh, if I use it this morning rather than tonight it might be ok' - and then realise how ridiculous that is, like some imaginary food poisoning clock started ticking at midnight!!! :rotfl:

Smell is the best way to be safe without wastefulness, that being said I do err on the side of caution when cooking for DDs but will dish myself up any old minging stuff!
