Check pages 11 to 14. It outlines the various heating scenarios with projected running costs. Suprisingingly, heat pump technology has one of the highest running costs (...well I never... shock horror). A Gas Boiler and PV Panel is lowest on the page! Oh why Persimmon did you not just put a solar panel on the roof and be done with it?!
Guys not sure if this one has been listed or if anyone else has come across this .pdf but wow take a look, it talks a lot about code 3 and what building contractor requirements have to be met.
http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/code_for_sust_homes.pdf
If you check out page 9 and look under Benefits For Consumers and then take a look at page 26 it makes for interesting reading because what we have at the minute does not meet these requirements.
I haven't checked all of it yet just had a quick scan through so there maybe a lot more information that could help take this matter further.0 -
Hey everyone.
Read this thread with interest... it rediculous the time this is taking to get resolved for you all.
Have any of you been switching the systems off and using electric heaters as I think this would be a lot cheaper for you than this stupid system.
I think you need to take legal action and I hope this appears on watchdog to raise awareness with the 1000's of others that dont know about this thread. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

Hi Richard, thanks for reading the threads makes interesting reading that's for sure.
I have posted letters to all of the residents within our new Phase and have arranged a meeting for next week where we can all get together and thrash it out, we have been told from Orbit that they are trying to get a person from Aspects and Nibe to be present.
me and my wife have spent hours researching this Heat pump and everywhere you look this kind of heat pump should not be used in houses in this country. They are more meant for small flats and people who live in rural parts of the country when they can't get gas.
We phoned the Future Energy Systems (FES) and again they said these heat pumps are not viable in houses in this country and should never have been recommended for low cost, low energy houses.
It also makes me laugh that every time we search for anything to do with the Nibe system this website is at the top of every list, which to be honest i think is great.:T more of the same please.0 -
Well said  I have also done a lot of research over the last 9 months on the air sourced heat pumps and found the same finding as you,
The Nibe 360p is only suited to a flat and also if they live in a country with cheap electric e.g. Sweden also in Scandinavia their air is much dryer than ours where we have a much damper climate, The nibe is under size for our house that is why the compressor is always running because the nibe can not cope and then the immersion heater is always kicking in because the nibe can not cope I did try and tell the installer from Greenhill construction this but he was having none of it
The system might be ok if installed in a small house where no gas is available and they rely on heating oil or coal or wood or wood pellet heating the cost might then just break even ,
I Also see if you type on in Nibe or Nibe fighter 360p or any of their air pumps like the new Nibe 370p on google this thread comes at the top:j,
Melin homes are aware of the Nibe situation and I had a few of their development team up here on Tuesday and they are all nice helpful people so i hope they hold Nibe or Greenhill or who ever sold them the idea of installing this system responsible
And just to let you know that my mother lives in a new build 4 bed house 3 weeks ago when it was cold as a test i set the heating to 22c in the house and she has also used hot water the gas bill for one week in her house was £7Hi Richard, thanks for reading the threads makes interesting reading that's for sure.

£7 wouldn't that be nice as a bill we have a 7 in ours but unfortunately it is between and 1 & 8.
All this research for a system we should never had install, how can builders or who ever be so blind. We have been told be FES that the building contractors would have gone for this because it was a cheaper option for them because they didn't have to lay new gas pipes etc so that really is the main thing for them money (what a surprise), don't care about the residents they can pay whatever but for us it's cheap so lets install the most high cost and high energy system we can and whats that called

What do you mean between 1 & 8 per day?
The worse thing is that there is gas in our house and i have a gas cooker and they did not use it for heating:(£7 wouldn't that be nice as a bill we have a 7 in ours but unfortunately it is between and 1 & 8.

Think they mean £178 rather than £7... I.e. its between the 1 and 8!
Snap with you. I have mains gas too for the hob. Flagship Housing couldn't understand why Persimmon wanted to put one of these things in here when the home is on the mains gas network! Flagship were saying because it was "Section 106" house, they had no say on the design or what went in it. They just brought it "off the shelf".
Flagship were ment to be contacting Persimmon on my behalf (and others) today, but I'm yet to hear anything. They are going to apply pressure to get this sorted and get Nibe out (again) to check over the system, rather than the orginal contrator. Perhaps get the installation MCS certified. If Persimmon get contractual, Flagship feel they are not likely to pay out compensation as I got it "sorted" myself. But what am I ment to do when I'm getting zero help from Flagship and the contractor (Taylor "Cowboy" Plumbing and Heating)? Continue to let the unit clock up astromnomical bills apparently?!
Again on a positive note, are you guys noticing a reduction in your usage for the past two days? They have been quite mild. Mine clocked in at 12KWh exactly for yesterday and is on track for a similar figure today. Its used 140KWh in the last week (a full week since the Nibe engineer has been) which works out at £12.85. However, that is heating the house to 19 degrees. Its not warm but then again its not cold. I dare not turn it up any furthur due to the running costs. Its worth noting, the perfomance increase since it has been milder (its halved and halved again from the orginal 40KWh/day). However, when you need the things most (when its freezing), that is when they cost a fortune!Mortgage Started: £131,500 (June 2010)
Mortgage Paid Off: £33,000 (25.1%)
Mortgage Remaining: £98,5000 -

That's my argument to be honest mate. Over the past 24hrs ours has clocked up 25 Kw, which to be perfectly honest still isn't great even with temperatures for the past 3/4 days being 12 degree's.
Our biggest concern and argument is, we are not waiting until next winter to have massive bills again, no way so the more we can get done now the better and like i said before i,m not giving up until this system is removed from our property and the other properties around us.
Spoke to our housing officer today and the meeting we have planned for next week, which i am going to head, they are hoping to have the building contractors there, Orbit and Greenworld. I actually don't think any of them apart from Orbit, will actually turn up.
Which company in there right mind is going to go to a meeting with 30 to 40 people when you know you are in for one hell of a kicking especially when i get started.0 -

As I say until this is resolved you guys would be best off switching it off and using electric plug in heaters at least you would be warm.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Just to let you know that the yestersday it was 10c outside and the nibe used £4.26p of electricity,That's my argument to be honest mate. Over the past 24hrs ours has clocked up 25 Kw, which to be perfectly honest still isn't great even with temperatures for the past 3/4 days being 12 degree's.

I actually don't think any of them apart from Orbit, which actually turn up.
