But the nibe eats electric as it can not cope with the house heating and water needs:( as it is underside for our house the should have went for a bigger outdoor unit:),denial2010 wrote: »You have hit the nail bang on the head as to where the problem is! To be able to be certified to install a Nibe System you go on a 1 day course in Chesterfield. That's it... One Day and you are qualified.
I don't hold Nibe responsible for my situation. I put full blame on the installation company (Taylor "Cowboy" Plumbing and Heating in Sudbury) and Persimmon Homes. Nibe were saying they are trying to get information from the house builders in terms of room size and insulation so the units can be configured correctly and these problems are avoided. However, house builders are not forthcoming with the information.0 -
Sorry but i can not agree with this the guy who installed our nibe 360p from greenhill construction installed it correct and he only did a course on it and did a good job of installing it:beer:,

Why can't u agree with it? He might have installed it properly doesn't mean its upto the job though.
If it was him who specified it then for him to be any good at his job he would have realised it was too small for the job.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

Exactly. Nibe as a whole have a very good reputation... I'm starting to get annoyed with the constant Nibe bashing. They do not choose or spec which houses their units go into.
I have a lot smaller house (2 bed... 79m2) and the same unit. Since the Nibe engineer has been, it has performed a lot better. So perhaps ra200's unit is undersized. However, that's not Nibes fault. Out of all the companies I've had to deal with over the past few weeks, I've found Nibe themseleves to be the most helpful. Hense why I hold the contractor and house builder responsible.Mortgage Started: £131,500 (June 2010)

It's the same as u going out and Buying a car that is too small for your needs and its not big enough to fit all your family and shopping in. Whos fault is that yours or the car manufacturer? You chose to buy the car.
It's the same with the nibe in the right property it will preform as designed but builders who don't have a clue about these systems don't understand they have to be bang on sized properly. They specified the unit.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

You have totally avoided my question, which was.Do you think the results in the EST field trial of 19 ASHPs are good? - and that is with the manufacturers involved in the trial. As well as a raft of technical consultants.
So that rules out poor installation, incorrect sizing etc wouldn't you think?
Although in another reply you indicated that Air to Water ASHPs are not much good.
In the website where you get much of your information there are fitters who are of the opinion that Air to Water are pretty c*!p.
Even if your excuse that it is all down to poor installation(which I don't think is correct) that is still an indictment of the ASHP industry.
Pay £6,000+ and hope the installer knows what he is doing!!! and be aware that you need to juggle constantly with all the controls etc to conform to prevailing weather conditions. From EST report.
Many householders said that they had difficultiesusing their heat pump.
understanding the instructions for operating and
Surely everyone can see that there is a problem with the whole ASHP industry?
There have been about ten cases on MSE(not all in this section) recently of frankly horror stories; and loads more if you search the web. Also bear in mind that there is always a reluctance for those who have spent good money on a system(or any project) to admit they are disappointed. (says me who bought 2 Betamax recorders and a Toshiba HD DVD) Not all are like AndyASM who admits he ripped out his ASHP system.
Despite all of the expert involvement in the EST year long trial, this was one of their conclusions:Further study needs to be undertaken on an
installation-by-installation basis, to record what
has been done wrong (or well), what could be done
better, and what exactly should be done in the future.
My point is until that study is undertaken, the results published, verified and put into action, ASHPs should have a 'health warning' and any recommendation on a Money Saving Website should err on the side of caution.
Above all there should be some sort of verifiable guarantee that an ASHP should achieve a certain performance.0 -

Couldn't agree with you more sir! If you read one of the latest press releases from the DECC, Chris Hulme talks about the country is entering a "transisional" period by domestic heating moving from gas to electricity. So it looks like heat pumps are here to stay. Companies need to start getting their act together and whats more starting to work together, or its all going to come toppling down.Mortgage Started: £131,500 (June 2010)

What i am saying it is not the installer fault but the fault of Melin or Greenhill for buying a undersize system from Nu-heat, But i have no say in it as i rent the house, It is like me leasing a fiesta tdci diesel that should return 65mpg but only does 20mpg most people would not put up with it, So why should i put up with it in a rented house?,richardc1983 wrote: »Why can't u agree with it? Was yours a "Section 106" house do you know? If so Merlin would of had no say in the design or what goes in it.My house is around 95m2 to 100m2 3 bed, And the nibe can not cope
See mine really isn't that much smaller and yet your bills seem to be astronomically bigger! I just don't get it. On day like today it shouldn't really be using the emersion as its warm enough to heat the water from the air.Mortgage Started: £131,500 (June 2010)
