Quit smoking 16th July 2011 gradual reduction plus cold turkey.

I found previous versions of this site around four years ago I tried to quit but failed a few times. At that time the site was buzzing with support from Sue and Jo.

I support any method of quitting smoking,patches,gum,E-cigs.
but I am uncomfortable with people using E-cigs not as a means to quit, but as a permanent substitute. They have not been proved to be a safe substitute to smoking, but worst of all there is no control to their sale, any kid under 18 years old with access to internet can order kits online maybe to tied them over till they are old enough to buy proper killer sticks.

If anyone's finding it difficult to get on with people in this thread can you add them to your ignore list please?

    Many thanks!

    Andrea :)

User CP, settings and functions will take you to it.

Shame it comes to this but one or two on here with issues they feel the need to share. Must be all the hormones rushing round from the lack of nicotine.

Found out yesterday that the person who gave me the inspiration to stop smoking ('it was so easy') is now smoking again:eek:
So it wasn't that easy after all for her. I feel so proud of myself now and so you all should be too.

Incredibly, I agree with you, Denis. I've no intention of substituting one long-term habit for another, so am aiming at quitting the e-cigs entirely within a couple of years. A gradual reduction of nicotine levels until I'm using next to zero and then just stop.
A lot of people do that.

 such a shame Moneymaker......... do you think they will try again? I agree each day is a day to celebrate if you havent smoked.

3 months 7 days without having a cigarette......... thanks to my e-cigarette and the support of some great people (you know who you are:D)............ now I know some people dont like them but they are keeping me off the dreaded nasties:)

Like you Fazackerly......... I want to cut the nic intake down......... at the moment I am on a med strength but there are days that I dont want that much so I change to a lower strength and there is no change in the effect I get. Hopefully with taking baby steps I can do just that......... I know if I try to rush things it will all go ***'s up!:rotfl:

Now......... all I have to do is to stop buying myself treats.............. perfume........... Yankee Candles.......... Armarni jumper;)

The treats are a good thing Esme. Reminds you that with stopping you can now afford those treats. Like me with the clutch on my car :rotfl: Well the money was supposed to be for treats :rotfl:

And instead of you having treats the car had to be "treated":D Hope all is fixed now but when I hear of things like that I thank the universal being that someone told me that it was safer that I did not learn to drive:D

Must get on........ mountains of paperwork to go through, cant put it off any longer:(

    Have a good day:T

Just thought I would report in.

    Not happy with the shenanigans.

We should be working as a team best we can to help each other, which ever method people choose to stop.

Good luck everyone. It can be done, I am testimony to that. You could not begin to comprehend how much and what I used to smoke and how long for.

It's never too late to stop, or at least try.

    Daz.
Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T
Did smoke- Not any more (26-02-11):j

Totally Esme, as I said, I can't complain, 129k miles on a clutch isn't bad. Fella's car goes in tomorrow for MOT Blah more money!
