Still a long way to go, I know, but am really pleased with myself I've come this far. With the rain we've had this week, I've been feeling especially smug that it's not me standing in the rain having a smoke!!!!!!
MoneyMaker - great idea of starting the 'Non Smoking Fat Club'. My friend asked me the other day if my breathing was any better - no, my trousers are so tight! :rotfl:
Will have to address the weight issue very shortly, It's in the evenings when I tend to eat more, (especially if I'm having a glass of wine as well - although I'm not giving that up too!!) maybe I'll do some knitting and knit some scarves for Xmas presents!!! I can only knit scarves!!
:T Well done to all ex smokers.0 -

Shame it comes to this but one or two on here with issues they feel the need to share. Must be all the hormones rushing round from the lack of nicotine.
Found out yesterday that the person who gave me the inspiration to stop smoking ('it was so easy') is now smoking again:eek:
So it wasn't that easy after all for her. I feel so proud of myself now and so you all should be too.
That sort of comment about hormones doesn't exactly help. Life is more than if you're hormones are behaving themselves or if you understand binary...too tired and had way too stressful a few days to even report you though I really should....You should know the answer to all the above, Erme, after all it was you who put the first nasty attacking post on, you who lit the touch paper and then just sat back to watch it all blow up. Don't make any more trouble where it is not needed.
People come here to try to quit, ok it isn't working for you, but others wish to try their best so leave them to do so in peace.
Morals and you? You have no morals, that much is clear, but then everyone has their negatives.
This folks is why I really don't think I can stay here, far too much nastiness for the sake of it.
Sue
Please Sue hun...DON'T slander me. I do have morals. You know full well I am a bible believing Christian and am the first to hold my hands up when I say something wrong (and it's been pointed out to me..if I'm wrong I'll always apologise)...I fear without wanting to push this back and forth this is projection on your part....I have my faults..sure we all do.
Like I said..I've had far too rough a few days to engage Sue... (stress related)..but I beg you not to slander me so publically

I haven't been back here in a long time. I managed 51 days smoke free and then caved when drunk
I know cannot get past 12 hours. I am now at a loss as to how to change that.
I have tried all NRT products, have read allen carrs book and have tried an e-cig.
I have realised its my mind that is preventing me from quitting.
Any ideas how I can change this? I am even considering hypnosis but at £50 it will be a struggle to find the money. Yet I seem to find the money for cigs even when I cannot afford to buy them.
I dislike smoking and it doesnt give me stress relief or benefit me in anyway... so why can I not get past 1 day? I am driving myself insane with the constant failure.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.0 -

Have you tried Champix?
The reason i ask is that they take the need and craving for them away, your mind alters and you just don't want one.0 -
One year, three months, two days, 23 hours, 56 minutes and 40 seconds. 9179 cigarettes not smoked, saving £2,983.21. Life saved: 4 weeks, 3 days, 20 hours, 55 minutes.
Hi all thought i would pop in and say it does get easier as you can see i have given up for a while now and have no intentions of ever going back i done 1 week of patches kept having strange dreams and went cold turkey with lots of early nights after work and it worked.
If you really want to stop you can i smoked for over 20 years 20 or more a day x Good Luck xx0 -

Sue
Actually I don't classify myself as a smoker anymore. I'm down from 36mg/ml (very high strength) e-cig liquid to 12mg/ml (medium-low strength) and it may have taken me like 8 months but still...
I for one know without e-cigs (and I don't mean the stuff that looks like cigs you can buy from any chemist. I saw one the other day - starting strength 11mg LOL.) and the knowledge and support I've gained online I'd be still coughing like aunt sally etc etc.....You know I've had a huge amount of stress and even coming out of a+e late one night (spent 3 hours in there with a dislocated knee) I didn't smoke. Even with the next day the splint slipping off more times than I've had hot dinners in an important uni meeting and having to go back twice already this week; not sleeping one night; having real disability trouble another I've not smoked.
So yeah I'm with others who say that e-cigs are really good if stress is a huge factor in making you relapse. I also say they are really good if you're a heavy smoker (I was an oz of tobacco a day when I quit....that's about 70 or so in tailor mades) and the NRT really isn't cutting the mustard then you can get enough nicotine from e-cigs. So it's an option in that regard. But it's for the individual to decide. Not for us to preach
Hope (confusion aside from dear Sue) that helps someone
E
PS. at the weekend I went 2hours (just over) without a puff on the e-cig and did that a few times in one day :j...yay...it may not sound much but for somoene would regularly prior to the e-cig have like 2-3 cigs every 15 mins it's huge!!! Even when not allowed to smoke I'd often use the nasal spray every hour if not every 20 minutes in a non smoking environment. I used to find I just couldn't cope without one or the other. And yes it's been a very slow journey and that may not appeal to some folk, and yes I'm still on it but still:dance:

wow ....just came on here to report my 2 months and a few days success and brag if Im honest and support where possible. Seems the famous 2 are at it again and thats such a shame.
Do you two realise in any way shape or form that your petty bickering is putting off people from visiting and posting on here???
You are both of course above any retribution in your own minds and that must be a great place to be. unfortunately i suspect you have frightened off a number of people who may well have achieved the one thing this thread is all about with everyone elses support.
I do hope you are proud.
To everyone else i would really suggest you use the ignore button and post. If you can do that there are a lot of really good people on here who will give you so much support. I was lucky I got in at a time support was the main jist of the thread not pettiness.
edit to add - moneymaker i did not mean you sorry i cross posted29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
I also think it is an awful shame if some people have been put off posting on this thread
It's a giving up smoking thread & everyone should be encouraged & praised, no matter what method they find helps them.0 -
I started smoking on my 12th birthday (naughty!) and 15 years later i have finally stopped. It's like i've cut my arm off in a way. I must admit i'm using the ecig but i'd still be smoking without it, i've tried other methods so i'm soooooo happy. I hope to cut down and quit from them eventually. Most importantly my kids are happy that i'm no longer sneaking outside for a fag all the time
3 weeks and 5 days!!... but tonight i've got some friends coming over and i'll be having my first alcoholic drink since stopping. I'm really worried as one friend smokes and i'm awaiting an ejuice delivery so using an unsatisying one at the min.
