People often need, deserve and want help in quitting this devastating illness of smoking. I've seen my Dad die from it (god I wish e-cigs were around then, it was possibly the one thing that might have worked), I see my sisters smoke around their kids, I see youngsters starting up at 15 and it depresses me to hell.
I've already been personally depressed from smoking, it drove me right down into the ground. So I have a real desire to help people not get to that state, I can't help with what I don't know about, but I know about e-cigs, so of course, that is what I post about.
So if someone mentions e-cigs, I post, then get accused of jumping on anyone who is vulnerable and trying to accost them to my side of the force?
Horrifically funny if you are William Shakespeare, downright rude and insulting if you are me...
I wish I knew the answer, but it eludes me.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Oh dear. This is all a shame. I'm a newbie, haven't smoked since last Weds & looked up this thread to give/receive a bit of moral support. It seems to have all gone wrong
noooooooo it hasn't honestI guess the rule of life says that if you stick a certain number of people in room (or a forum in this case) they will find something to disagree with.
The one thing we do all still agree on I'm sure is that not smoking is good :T:T:T. Well done you and by my experience you have done the most horrible bit now and whilst it will still be tough at times it will get easier and easier every day.
How are you giving up? 5 days is a great result whatever you are doing and I hope you can keep us up to date with your progress.29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -

You can get moral support here and you can give it also, atm it seems we have two threads doing more or less the same thing.
The other thread is here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3942681 you may get better support there atm depending on your giving up method.
I am not going to get into, this thread is better than that type of thing, you go with what works for you, use both if it helps.
What matters is that you keep up your good work. You've come so far already, well over a week, whatever you are doing, it seems to be working, so keep it up and share your methods with everyone else.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Congratulations MrsB :T
I'm sure lots of others will come along to congratulate & support you, no matter what method, you or they are using to give up smoking0 -
This thread is still alive
Don't think I'm welcome on the 'quitting smoking' thread but andrea has said no one can ban anyone from x thread..
And am tired and grumpy...so maybe it wasn't so wise to post on S's baby

I am also new to this thread and have been following it for sometime! I just want to say that for me personally it should not matter how you stop smoking the fact you are doing it in the first place is a great achievement and you should all be very proud . I was a 20 a day smoker for 19 years and tried pretty much everything to quit and the only thing that has worked for me is e cigarettes ! I haven't a problem with my nicotine addiction the same as I have no problem drinking caffeinated coffee I also suffer with depression so stimulants help me through the day ! Any way I just wanted to speak up and hope that this thread will remain open and that I am welcomed . I just think everyone is so different and what works for one person could not work for another, at he end of the day we are all the same in so far as we have got of cigarettes and that should stand for something right ???0

Good luck quitting smoking QuitBee, it's not easy but well worth it
use whatever means of help and support you can to stay away from the ciggies0 -
Thanks karma cookie I have been cig free for 6 weeks and 3 days all thanks to e cigs I have been using them now for 3 months and in all that time only had 3 cigarettes but completely tobacco free for the last 6 weeks ! I feel so much healthier and don't smell and saving money in the long run
for me they have been a saviour but know also that they are not for everyone

Well done Mrs B & Quit Bee:beer::T
Like others on this thread , I am saddened that its come to this.............. perhaps MSE Andrea can clarify the position? Needstochange, I absolutely agree that we should all stick together and offer encouragement........... you are totally right, what suits one may not suit another. I have said before I have tried to quit using NRT, hypnosis, acupuncture, self help, etc........... the patches worked for me once and lasted 18 months without smoking, but due to stress fell off the wagon. Tried patches again but my skin reacted violently. I smoked again for approx 5yrs and then this Jan found e-cigarettes via a thread on MSE and havent looked back since. I'm not saying they are for everyone.......... but they are working for me.
This weekend I actually reduced the strength of my e-juice from medium to low with no cravings whatsoever:)
So keep up the good work people :Ttotal airhead, total bimbo, very superficial:D0
