Positive few days, I've managed very easily to sail past my usual 3 day give up stage. I Sought advice from those in the know and honestly I already prefer vaping to smoking.
OH & kids have been amazed at me because usually by this point I'm biting everyone's head off, This time I'm sat watching telly with a glass of wine with no tobacco in the house and I'm fine. (and I don't smell like carp!)
It is amazing and I can only concur with my own personal findings.

And congratulations. Before long you will start feeling the benefits of not smoking. :j

Well done mmikailian :T:T wonderful stats. Did you treat yourself with the nearly 3K you have saved?

I still haven't had another go at jogging since last weeks disaster but have spoken to a friend who's nearly 10 years older than me, she's just done a marathon. Said to start off in 5 minute blocks and build up gradually. Will try to do this.

Good luck to all, don't forget we're all in the same boat and anyone needing support will find someone on here :D

Hi Money maker, another week free for you, great news!! :T:j:T The advice from your friend was spot on, we give our lungs shock a shock by inhaling all that rubbish into them for x amount of years, it's only natural they need chance to recover and start expanding again. You can do it though and it'll do them a world of good if you keep jogging - little by little. ;)
BTW Sue, you keep saying that in my first post I asked you to send people over to the e-cig thread.
    Which I didn't.
In my 2nd post however, I did say.

Btw, there is already a thread about e-cigs...
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=1243625

I only found out about them by accident, after reading about them on here, on a totally non related thread. They're still not mainstream and alot of people don't understand them, or fear them because there is alot of confusing information out there.

So maybe you could stop misquoting me on that point, thankyou.

Maybe you could refrain from being so petty, Lotus. So, it was the 2nd post..directly below the 1st, is it really any wonder I got confused?

    Sue

Great work everyone and keep it up, you're well on your way to never again being slaves to nicotine for LIFE!!! Just keep going..one day at a time. :)

I don't wish to get involved in any interpersonal debate . . . but I will say I find it sad we can't co-exist in a harmonious fashion . . . I've read posts on here, where folk are really struggling to quit cigarettes and are going through all sorts of trials & tribulations. :(

Needlessly IMHO, there is a viable, cheaper & healthier alternative . . . electronic cigarettes. Whilst they're not sold by reputable Vendors at least, as quitting devices, they can be used as a stepping stone depending on what your personal long term objective it.

I smoked for 36 years, 40-50 cigarettes a day and spent an utter fortune on fags . . . statistics I'm not proud of, but are fact.

I never wanted to give up cigs, so finding an alternative that allows me to enjoy a very pleasurable habit has been life changing. The beginning of this month saw me as a electronic cigarette user of 2 years standing . . . something that I never ever dreamt would have been possible.

But, all that said . . . ecigs aren't going to be for absolutely everyone, we've a lovely member on Allabout who has quit smoking using Champix, something we're all very proud and thrilled about for her . . . she's still and I'm sure will continue to be, a highly valued member of our cyber community.

It's keeping an open mind on all the alternatives and advising people in their personal/individual best interests I'd hope. :)

I think some of you either need to take a chill pill or start smoking again.....

I've been here on several occasions and never felt patronised in the slightest, no matter what method I chose, and I've chose a lot :rotfl:

Erme - I agree with you int he respect that anyway of stopping is better than continuing to smoke. But as I previously stated if sue doesn't feel right about dishing out advice on using ecig, then she's quite right to point other posters in the right direction of the Ecig board, where she knows they will get better advice than she can give. She's not told anyone not to post here, just advised them of the other thread.

As for the car, I knew the clutch was on the way out. But at 192k miles I can't really complain, can I. It's a 2002 Skoda Fabia btw, and is now running like a brand new car. Drove up the clyde valley most of the way this morning in 5th gear without any prob, only lowering when cars in front were slowing, had plenty of pulling power in it. :T I too wondered whether to repair it given the mileage it's done, but as my mechanic says (used to be his wife's car), it's a good engine in it, and been regularly service since new. The first time it's let me down, was when the fella was driving it and we really needed it, sods law eh?

The Saab is now going in on Friday for it's MOT. Know it needs rear springs and/or dampers. About £50 to get the Saab dampers, or we can put the Vauxhall Vectra ones on it, which cos about £5. No contest really:rotfl:

Another day gone. Sue I'm only going to post the weeks when it's a solid week. So Wednesday if you don't mind, trying not to look at silk quit meter until then. Nice to see it adding up a week at a time ;)

    Morning

I'm not getting into this whole stupid bickering lark again - !!!!!! we are adults can we try and act like them.

Stopping smoking is stopping smoking end of.

Leaving my personal thoughts on NRT aside as i'm not willing to be set upon for daring to have an opinion.

Have any of you actually thought that your stupid fights are what is killing this thread??

When i joined there were many who posted regular help and advice - not just Sue but many many others - now it's a thoroughly miserable place & of no use to anyone whatever method they choose in actually supporting them - cos all people seemed to be interested in is points scoring.

As an intelligent person i find this whole thing utterly pathetic.

Anyone who has been on this thread for any length of time knows who is stirring up for the sake of it - we may be ex smokers but we have not been brainwashed.

If anyone, newcomers or not would like any genuine support and help or advice please pm me - i don't know all the answers by any means - but after getting support and help on here i would like to pass that on to others if i can

Hugs for those that need or want them
    Chrissie .xx

All going well here, I'm on day 6 of no ciggy's and the changes already are very good, my sense of smell and taste are heightened and the jogging is going very well.

For anyone that is interested the NHS do a free to download podcast you can put on your mp3 player which builds you up week by week to being able to run 3 miles from nothing. Think it is available on itunes.

Still vaping nicotine, but it is a gradual process which I have to say i'm enjoying. I plan on reducing the nicotine level from 18mg to 14mg at about the 8 week stage if everything is still going well.

Right off to give the house a good clean, I can smell my old habits now and it's not good.
