Good luck Kelpie35 - you can do it!!

It's your choice not to smoke - nicotine does not rule your life - it took me 30 years of smoking to realise this.

When you 'think' you want a smoke distract yourself with other things - to keep mind and hand busy.

It's all about fooling your mind and it does get easier.

Well done for getting this far:T

Well done kelpie. For those who can, going absolute nic free would definitely be the best way. Way to go you!!

Well, was supposed to take my fella's car for MOT today. Disaster struck, the clutch broke on mine when he was taking it to work. My quit money has been put to good use, £282 for clutch  His can get MOT next week. Shouldn't really be surprised. Car has done 129k miles and was on original clutch :)

I was just going to say, it's unusual for clutches to wear out nowadays, but I suppose on that mileage, it's reasonable.
Oh heck.... I've just realised one of our vehicles is getting near that :o if motoring gets any more expensive, we're going to be using bicycles and where I live, that's no joke

The sleepless nights have already kicked in and i am waking at least 4 times in the night!

But other than that i feel fine, still think about them, but the moodswings havent really kicked in, yes the kids have been stressing me out and they are the biggets times i feel like smoking, but im not snappy or moody.

Kids are spending the day and night with their dad tomorrow night and i will pick them up on sunday. Normally with a saturday night free, i would go into town with a few friends have a laugh, drink and dance but i know that alcohol can make you more vunerable and more likely to give in and smoke, so instead i am going to spend the night at home pampering myself and watching telly, maybe read a book and slap a face mask on.

Well I have read the book "Easy Way" I did continue to smoke while I read it.

Did not buy and ciggies just used what I had left.

Finished book yesterday and had last fag.

it is now 2.30pm so have gone almost 24hrs.

I am trying to think of being a NON smoker now and the little monster will not win.

You don't jest - my old Toyota is reaching the point where I have to seriously consider if it's worth spending any more on; it's a hard one, because it's mechanically very sound and the body is great, even though it looks like a refugee from some Eastern hole.
In the meantime, I have my electric bike which gets me down to the village and in/out of the nearest small town for essential supplies. If I lived nearer the largest town I'd be on the bicycle full time, I reckon. However, in the garage are three decent motorcycles, which I haven't used in years - time to get one of them back on the road.

Lotus has been an absolute star and refered me to another forum and given me some good advice about future purchases. Another order placed, looking forward to a new toy tomorrow.
49 Hours in still no nasty weed here.

Wonderful news, njk1012! I sincerely hope you understand now that the only reason I gave the link for on the first day was for the sort of advice Lotus and others there can give.

Very well done on your 49 plus hours free from fags!!! :T

Hi Maz and thanks a lot for the time/means :) which btw is brilliant!! :T I was quite surprised it was that long, just goes to show just how well you're doing this time round. Great news about the clutch coming from the ciggie cash...and for it being the original after all those miles!!! Keep saving!

Lets all keep it up and look forward to a smoke free Summer - my first for a very very long time:D

    Hugs to all

Hi Chrissie, you're right, that first summer free from fags is particularly lovely and it's especially good to go wherever you wish without having to worry whether you'll run out of anything you'd normally have been absolutely desperate for! Bliss!

    Sue x

kelpie, it's so good to see you back again after finishing the book off and already on your way to 48 hrs FREE from ciggies and nicotine!!!!!! :T You keep bearing AC's words in mind as there are many, many more who have had great success after reading the book so you know you CAN do this too and be free from anything nicotine related!!! Keep busy and stay determined.

    Sue x

You're doing really, really well, mandz1!!! :T Whenever your kiddies play you up a bit, think of the fact that now you've begun to quit you'll still be around to watch them grow, get married and have youngsters of their own,. It helps you feel good about yourself and helps in being able to cope with the stress they bring now. :A

Very wise to pamper yourself rather than risking alcohol at a vulnerable time. It can make you more likely to give in, especially if you have a drop too much. Safeguard yourself for when you know you can manage things easier, and if possible, go with non-smoking friends.

If I lived in town, I would also be on a bicycle full time, so easy, but the way out of my village is over a huge hill and not only can't you get kids on a bike very easily, but it's very dangerous on the roads round here.
My motorbike is just for playing, as its the kid problems again.

We have 2 decent vehicles, but the truth of the matter is, we can't afford to replace them, which is worrying.

Anyway, to get back on subject, I suspect stopping smoking has helped our finances, although obviously vaping costs money, I know which I'd prefer to be paying for though.

Positive few days, I've managed very easily to sail past my usual 3 day give up stage. I Sought advice from those in the know and honestly I already prefer vaping to smoking.
OH & kids have been amazed at me because usually by this point I'm biting everyone's head off, This time I'm sat watching telly with a glass of wine with no tobacco in the house and I'm fine. (and I don't smell like carp!)

To those who are struggling, keep going it will get easier! What ever method you have chosen and a big Congrats to everyone who is still tobacco free! xxx
