E-cigs, 3 years, 7 months, 20 days.
Well done everyone, no matter what method you are using0 -
Morning fellow quitters
I hope you are all well and still remaining smoke freeDay 12 for me today, still cannot quite believe it I am very very pleased though.
Sad to say people getting a bit over protective of the E-Cig, strangely it seems to be the E-Cig users that have a bee in their bonnet, I have not read anything in this the last 20 pages of this thread that has said anything not nice about E-Cigs or E-Cig users, yet the people using them seem to think it is OK to throw insults around, I have just taken a look at the E-Cig thread and the attitude over their is ridiculous, if I was an E-Cig or prospective E-Cig user I would not go anywhere near that thread!
At the end of the day you do what you feel comfortable with, I have used Champix some of you would never dream of using this method after reading various horror stories about them, for me they have been great and I am now day 12 not only smoke free but also nicotine free. Just because they have worked for me does not mean they work for everyone.
Patches, sprays and E-Cigs are all Nicotine replacements, I did not want to go down this route as see it as a complete waste of time, you E-Cig users then say "Oh well there is a lot more rubbish in a cig than just nicotine!!", OK fine then well done, so kind of like saying right I drink a whole bottle of Jack Daniels and coke a day, the coke is making me out weight on and rotting my teeth so I am giving up! In future I will just drink the whole bottle of Jack Daniels every day neat! If you feel this make you healthier and gives you a nice warm glow then good for you, it is YOUR choice and YOUR opinion just like what I have just wrote is MY opinion, none of it is right or wrong but you certainly DO NOT have more of a right to an opinion than anyone else! Some of the recent comments on here that have now been deleted were just plain vile, not called for at all, you know what the majority of people opinion on this thread is regarding these E-Cigs so why keep upsetting everyone?? Maybe the neat nicotine is having an adverse affect on you??
My reasons for not going the E-Cig route were based on facts, the FACT NO health department in any government in the whole of the world endorse these as a product, the FACT that you are NOT nicotine free, you are deluding yourselves with the pats on the back you all keep handing out to each other you have achieved nothing, in fact I would go as far as to say as all you have done really is swapped a Benson for a Silk Cut, again this is my opinion and MY choice.
I could sit here and list a thousand links to different websites that offer facts as to why E-Cigs are a very bad idea, I cannot be bothered use Google it is your firend, for anyone that wants to use the search term "E-Cig nightmare" some eye opening sites will be displayed.
The same can be said for Champix and patches and sprays as well as gum da de da de da
Now if possible can we get back to the matter in hand? Some of use have found some will power and are not as weak willed as others and have actually quit properly, getting this thread back to offering support to those people would be great"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

List the bad ideas and we will tell you the truth. That's if you can be bothered instead of just mouthing off about something you know nothing about.
For a start, your idea about swapping one tobacco cig for another is absolutely ridiculous.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

The continued way you want to have an argument on this thread, makes you look silly.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
for the record
This all kicked off when someone started reporting us for posting links to e-cig info sites on this thread (not banned elsewhere on MSE and no more dangerous than a diet site to someone with an eating disorder which is also not banned)..
then there was a few of us for a wee while who were using e-cigs and some pm's sent that should have really been taken to the police but weren't for one reason and another. Tis life.
So yeah agree...you're right underpressure there's a lot of anti e-cig info out there. A lot of it is false. Agree I possibly added to the antipathy by documenting my early stages of it...
But I will not be slandered anywhere. In fact if the mods hadn't removed the slanderous posts I'd have probably taken it to the police. I am open to debate et al. Alas others on here aren't. We know (us wee vapers) that we're not going to convince the whole joe public overnight. But I know what's in my e-cig - glycerine (or similar) and nicotine and 2% of flavouring. I also know the success rate of being off the nasties is far higher than the pharma products. I also know there's nicotine in tomatoes and other veg.
The argument really is over for now hun....no point in digging it up again. The topic is now is quitting and radio 4. Gotta love radio 4...ooh those presenters sound edible LOL..(but now I'm a RA fan since seeing his pic on World Service 80 the other night - but he's married)
Anyhow....after my initial 'can I do this' wobble now reporting successfully below 24ml/ml nic conc...Yay :j....
Not long now and completely nic free...and off the cigs for life.... DV

Please people, this is the Giving Up Smoking thread, not the argy bargy, push my own agenda thread. This thread is here to support people in the giving up of one of the most addictive habits known to man/woman. Although I have to admit I find cutting down on yummy grub evern harder
Good on you NeedsToChange, one day at time and before you know it you will healthier, richer and happier.
Keep going all you giver uppers and thanks again to Su for the sterling work you have put in to these threads for so long.:THaters are gonna hate - you're not obliged to participate0 -
underpressure I know how you feel, it kicked off when I first quit and when I came on here for support I came off wound up wanting a fag!! I have realised it kicks off every now and then but now I expect it I don't get as wound up by it.
Personally I quit using the book method so I know that was not a replacement.

OK everyone
I realise giving up smoking must be very very tough and it's easy to start taking it out on others but it's almost the weekend, let's draw a line under this now and get back to chatting nicely and supporting each other.
Here you go, here's the line... have a great weekend everyone
