Lillian hope you had a good time at your group, the two at the children centre are lovely but went to baby sensory as a taster whilst the play was good found it a bit cliquey as everyone seemed to know everyone else and didn't really chat as we do at the children's centre - bit too serious plus is £7 a session so not very mse! Did anyone else find that with groups?

It was lovely thank you, it wasn't a group that had been set up by any organisation or anything, it's just something that's grown from a few people meeting after BF support at someone's house - it's now too big so we meet in the back room of a pub! There were 15 mums there today, it's all just organised through Facebook really. I had a really nice time, will definitely be going again.

Kitkat- do you think it might be teeth? That is what H is like when he has a tooth breaking through. If you're worried call the doctor though, always better to get them checked than sit tight and worry.

I did think teeth as his cheeks have been bright red, when I woke him at 9.30am (as I was concerned he wasn't breathing very well) he seemed lethargic, I fed him and he barely had any of it (20mls) then took him downstairs. He seemed happy but coughing/ wheezing and refusing milk. I phoned Dr's for advice and they said to bring him in. He's got a chest infection and a skin infection, gota make sure his room is humid and he's on antibiotics.

KitKat I don't know about where you are but with my surgery you can call reception, be put on the nurses triage list and the nurse or a GP calls you back and either offers you advice or gets you an appointment. I think they are more likely to want babies in to see them, and for toddlers it's morer 'give them some calpol and put them to bed' lol. I rang about squeaks face yesterday and they said 'ok come up in half an hour' so it's worth a try.

Thanks, my local Dr's receptionists now ask whats wrong and will suggest whether they class it as emergency or not (emergency appts are straight away non emergency are 2 weeks wait) so they suggested I took T in. I think they always are more concerned about young babies! How is squeaks face? Is it a rash? T's skin infection is on his face
Can I ask re routines, does anyone do one that works or do you just go with the flow as I am struggling to do anytime of routine apart from bed and wake up time. I find it very difficult to know when to put him for naps or where, I try at home but doesn't settle to end up going out - not very mse! Also the two groups I enjoy are at lunchtime but should I be trying to get t to hve a lunchtime nap then?? Been thinking I should stay at home tomorrow (and for a few days) rather than go to my group to try to establish something.

We have a basic routine; T tends to get up similar time every morning; between 7.30am and 8.30am, I feed/ change him and take him downstairs. He naps for 1/2 hour before 12pm. Then feed, playtime, longer nap (i struggle where to put him now he's outgrown moses basket as he wont nap in cot) so i put blanket next to me in sofa and he sleeps next to me, then he wakes 1.5-2 hours later and normally is coming upto another feed. Then another 1/2 hour nap in the evening, another feed then bed rather late- between 9-10pm. I do tend to go by him though, if he is hungry before a due feed I feed him, the same goes with sleep, no days tend to be the same! Some days I struggle to get him to nap, but a really basic flexible routine works for us and helps me know roughly when to expect sleep/ feeds/ etc.
  • KitKat I had Katie at the doctors yesterday after an all night coughing session now got antibiotics, it was the all night thing that tipped it for me.

If it's a chest thing the doctor normally wants to see you so they can listen to the chest.

  • Lillian that sounds I good from the few groups I've been to I prefer the less formal ones, where you can have a chat and a cuppa with the other mums (plus a moan!), the one I go to we have even arranged a night out tomorrow. I don't know about the more formal ones felt a bit left out as all the other mums were doing all the signing and I didn't have a clue!!

Thanks for routines, at the mo he tends to go to bed at about 08:30/9 after starting bath then feed and usually sleeps through till 7 (although was up at 5 briefly this morn) but after that I have no clue!! He does want a morning nap we sometimes achieve it, plus a lunchtime nap (again we do try but don't always suceeds) and maybe a late afternoon nap. Like you KK I'm not sure where to put t down as we have a rocking chair in living room that sometimes works but then I feel I'm creeping around scared to wake him. I think part of the prob is that he doesn't always feed at once as gets distracted so I feel like I'm always topping him up but then this runs into nap time so I never know if he's tired or hungry or just using bfing to get to sleep!

KitKat we got to see my favourite doctor which was nice, she said it looks like mild eczema and also some soreness from dribbling. She gave us a prescription for dermol cream which seems to be working a treat :)

She's had a bath tonight followed by a bottle and is now completely conked out :D

Older 3 not been too bad today for a change :rotfl:

I keep meaning to ask, how are Rach and little Leo getting on? I lost my phone and all my numbers!

Also I've let all of mine fall into their own little routine, it's always worked well :)

As long as you and he are both happy I don't think it is too important whether you have a routine or what the details are if you do have one.

I may have used a book with Contented in the title but adapted to us - I didn't impose some strict rigid routine onto Alice without any reference to her needs.

  • Delain me, thomas, Rach and Leo can be found most days in a local starbucks as only place we get our little loves to get to have a long nap - plus we can have a long natter! Her Leo is not sleeping well as t at night with a couple of wake ups still.

Susan I think T seems to fit in quite well with the book with contented in the title too and would love him to but unfortunately I don't think t has read it yet so doesn't know that he should be feeding at dead on 7 on both breasts with no faffing about inbetween (which includes smiling at mummy and daddy)

  • SirM - the only routine I had with Katie when she was small was bedtime, upstairs for 7pm and everything was done upstairs in quiet and near darkness.

I found that her routine changed almost weekly anyway.
