Hi,
Glad your little girl is doing well.
I amnot sure about the expressing but i would have thought as long as you do it every day you will keep up some kind of supply, someone may be able to help more.
With the contraception they tend to sort it at your 6 week appointment and with a c section i don't think it is advised to do anything before then anyway.
Lookig forward to hearing more about your little girl x0 -
from what i have been told about breastfeeding our body will produces as much as it needs so the more you express the more it will produce basically. with my lo i was feeding around every 2 hrs he is now nearly 8 weeks and feeding around every 3 hrs, the bottles i have expressed he usually drinks around 4 oz.
so glad your lo is doing well. congratulations. x cant help woth the prem baby bit as mine was 11 days over. but take it easy as youve had a c section, i ended up with an emergancy one too and it really does take time to settle and heal. even now 8 weeks on i can feel if ive overdone it during the day with shopping and lifting the car seat ectnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
For anyone looking for presents, I can't recommend this book highly enough!
http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/roger+priddy/wipe+clean+early+learning+activity+book/5754694/
I bought it for Charlotte and she chooses to spend time every day sitting the dining table practising her writing.
It comes with a black pen, but she likes using washable Crayola felt tips on it as well, and she has some baby wipes so she can rub things out and do it again.
It's been well worth the money I spent. Here I go again on my own....0 -
janninew congrats on the baby - I cant answer your questions as dont have much breastfeeding experience past the first week. Re the contraception there is no reason you cant get it sorted as soon as you like - we were back at it after a couple of weeks - not often but it happened and I had c-sections each time.
Agree with becles with the Book, we had 2 board ones one ABC and one 123 and they were brill and much loved by the older two.
I've had a rubbish day. OH is starting a new job soon and his training days start at 9am, normally he'd start at 1:30 after I'm home. He also got the first weeks rota and he is due to work the first Sunday. No one is willing to watch the kids - I had asked my mum is she would watch them 1 sunday in 6 before he took the job and she said it was fine. I've had to take 2 days off - one I've managed to shift swap but means I'm doing 8am-6pm the following monday stood up the whole time, I normally only do 6 hours max and after that my feet kill. Gonna miss our works Christmas night because it was booked for that Sunday. Was proper stressing earlier before I managed to get the days off but now I'm just !!!!ed off because if I didnt work we'd just get more tax credits plus a little housing benefit and we wouldnt have to run a car but long term when the kids are older working should pay off. I'm so tempted to just quit - gonna see what mum is like with his next Sunday he is due in - also I may try and transfer to the local store to cut out the commute but they'd have to have the right hours for me.0 -
Just been reading back as not been on for a few days.
Routine!! Ha ha - we still haven't got a proper routine and L is 14 weeks old today:eek: Its not for want of trying, its just been impossible. Actually in the last 2-3 weeks I have noticed a sort of pattern forming but just as soon as I think we're getting somewhere, something happens to throw us off like a cold and now teething!!
We managed to get a bedtime routine in place early on but other than that we pretty much just wing it in the day! It would help if I had a child who would nap for more than half an hour at a time :rotfl:
And we've still got night wake ups and if one more person tells me their child was sleeping through by 8 weeks, I will actually scream!!!!:D
Hope everyone else is doing OK xxLeo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Hi ladies...pretty sad that I'm logging on at 4am to post!! Just fed and feel wide awake!
Wendz - I often pick LO up too quickly so as not to wake DH. Apparently DH didn't put LO down till gone midnight the other day from a 10.30 feed for the same reason! It's hard because we need to do it really. When I do leave LO grizzling for a while, like just now, he's getting quicker at dropping off each time. Good luck when the room change happens.
DH and I discussed moving LO to his own room because he's so noisy but decided we'd leave it until New Year as we're getting used to it!
Jannine - congrats!! I'm sorry I can't help with your Qs but wish you and LO well.
Merfe - sorry to hear your probs. Life is such hardwork sometimes when juggling around!
Claireloo - when I say routine.....not exactly! He wakes when he wants but will always have a nap between 1hr and 45 mins about 1hr30-2hrs after he wakes. Then we're currently back down to 3 hourly feeds due to medical stuff so we feed 3 hourly and I tend to put him down another 2 times during the day when be needs it. He will usually sleep for 45 mins - 1hr each time. Then around 5-5.30 the bathtime routine comes along and after that and feeding etc he's usually asleep for 6.30-7. So....not a proper routine but that's enough structure for me. Can't believe L is teething! Time is flying!
Oooo suddenly I feel a bit sleepy so will catch you all later x0 -
I know!! I couldn't believe it either but for the last 3 weeks he's had really rosy cheeks, is dribbling loads and his gums are rock hard. I didn't give him anything for it until yesterday when he was just really whingey all day and his cheeks were flaming so I gave him a teething powder. Hard to say if it helped at all. No actual tooth to show for all of this though.Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0

Sorry mirror, can't help as I bottle feed. We get at least one a day and it's quite obvious if he's having uncomfy times. You'll know. We use the old fashioned method which will prob be frowned upon...a little raw cane sugar dissolved (3ml). Works a treat.
Claireloo I think my LO has started having teething bouts too. It's one thing after another for my lovely lad (and everyone else's)0 -
I wouldn't worry too much after 2 days, I have heard bf babies can go over a week without pooing.
The only thing i have heard of doing is a tiny bit of orange juice with some water.
My clever girl has been pulling herself up to stand today, she did it for the first time a week ago but done it a few times today. She is growing up so fast!0
