hey bascadette lovely to see you. I was hoping this thread would pick up as I loved the constant chat on the preggers thread.
well little one slept through from 12.30 - 04.30 then from 6-8 so i actually got some sleep, which was v much needed as I was knackered yesterday. Tried my madela breast pump for the first time today and it is amazing, expressed nearly 3ozs in ten minutes!!! fabulous. Have 2 friends coming over for a cuppa at 5.30 which should be nice, just hope baby is good and doesnt cry the whole time!!!
Having chicken pie for tea, courtesy of the freezer, although i really need to peel the potatoes, wash up, clear up the living room, unload the dishwasher, hang up the washing and tidy the kitchen. Honestly the house is such a tip, I just don't seem to find the time to do v much, baby doesn't sleep too much during the day and likes to be entertained when he's awake!!! How does everyone else cope? Feeding at the minute, so typing one handed its taking ages!
My appetite has really increased, am just stuffing my face at the moment!

i was wondering if anyone could give some advice? After feeding, baby falls asleep after i've burped him but he's taken to waking up again after ten minutes and screaming the place down, now he's a bit of a greedy boy and breastfeeds for an hour. I think he's gobbled too much milk as he's a bit sick and thrashes about and screams for an hour. Now should I stop him feeding sooner so he doesn't gobble so much, or let him carry on as he's obviously hungry? we have to use infacol as he struggles bringing his wind up.0

Hi everyone,
Missymoo - definately hard to get stuff done to begin with, I am not sure if it gets easier or if you just give up haha. It did get easier when Poppy was a little older and could entertain herself a bit more but now has got harder again as she is crawling. I tend to go to a lot of groups etc in the day now and try and do little bits of housework when i get the chance and in the evening when she has gone to bed.
Also with the bfing personally i would prob let him feed as long as he likes as he is obviously hungry as you said. Maybe the gripe water suggested by Mirror would help.
It was my Grandmas funeral today, had to take Poppy as still bfing her and was a long journey. She was very good though and was a little bit sqealy through the ceremony (seems to have started sqealing loads this week) and was smiling away at everyone which i think made them all feel a bit better.
Her sleeping is still not great, she used to do stints of 5 hours or so but am lucky to get 3 now, doesn't help that when she is sleeping i don't seem to be able to sleep.0 -

Breastfeeding for an hour is normal, are you letting him finish off the breast ie. until he comes off himself and offering the other side? Babies that age can't eat too much, they will sick a bit up if they've had too much but that shouldn't continue for too long. If they do have a lot of sick they get hungry again so you just have to feed them again! Just remember that breastfeeding constantly changes, things should settle down a bit soon but then he will get a growth spurt and things will go out the window for a bit again!
For burping are you trying different positions? It's good to try to keep them upright lots after feeding (which is where a sling/wrap can be handy) or we found putting DD across our knees worked well.
Good luck, unfortunately a lot of this is trial and error as every mum and baby is different but come on here if you want more advice.

One thing I can tell you is things will get better/easier. When my DD was 2 weeks old I was getting very little sleep and all I got from everyone was "sleep during the day"...well I couldn't sleep during the day. It just didn't work for me.missymoo81 wrote: »hey everyone, trying to post when I get a minute.
Not really getting very much sleep, maybe 2 hours then feed then another 2 later on. How is everyone else getting on with the no sleep, and has anyone got any tips for me. I'm just knackered all the time. Baby Roo is 2 weeks old today and absolutely gorgeous, I never thought I could love something so much!
Just watching come dine while OH changes baby as he just weed over OH's trousers!!!!! glad he wasnt sitting on me!
I think you're going to have to find your own way, but our routine which will definitely attempt to repeat with baby 2 was:
7/8pm - BF and then I'd fall asleep on the sofa.
10/11pm BF and after that DD would then cry for about 3 or 4 hours! Wow that seems like a lifetime ago.
So I would go upstairs for some quality sleep while OH stayed downstairs with a crying DD.
About 2am he'd wake me for another BF (so by that point I'd had 2 lots of 2 hours) and we'd swap places. I stayed downstairs and crash on sofa with DD while OH caught up on some quality sleep! I'd still get a good few hours on the sofa.
It only lasted a few weeks, but once we'd worked that routine out I started feeling so much better just getting some unbroken sleep. It just seemed pointless both of us being awake with a crying baby and then both of us spending all day with matchsticks propping our eyelids open!Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Hi Giz, how is baby Giz doing? Are you too wondering if those early days weren't so much easier? Long BF's where you could sit on the sofa and catch up on lots of TV/surfing. Putting them down in one place and knowing they'd still be there when you returned

I met up with MV for a coffee today, it was really nice putting a real name to a face after so long following each other on MSE and Baby MV has such an adorable and infectious laugh. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Baby Giz is nearly 10 months  and yes I do sometimes think it was easier...certainly wouldn't want to go back to pre-6 weeks old though. Those days were just horrendous. We swore we wouldn't have anymore kids then! But I have to remember that I was ill too (had the retained products for 3 weeks) so hopefully this time I will at least feel a bit healthier and be sleep deprived, rather than fighting off an unknown infection and sleep deprived!Hi Giz, how is baby Giz doing? I'm loving this age though, it's just getting more fun and interesting but yeah you cannot leave them for one second can you?! DD gets up to all sorts of mischief.
Ah that's great that you met MV.
Are you going back to work? I see that MV resigned. I'm back in a month
