Good evening ladies, hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. It was great to see this thread so lively, I hope some of you stick around.

Well my LO has really taken to the rice. He seems to reflux so much less when he has it. I say that but I mean he seems to being less up. Got covered by nearly 4 oz of milk earlier...nice!

After a bit of a carpy night sleep wise I'm heading to bed early. Wild!! I can't seem to get LO out of settling for night around 17.45 therefore meaning mornings are starting around 5.30! Help and advice please!!!

    Morning

Josh is 15 today! We're going to Beamish later as he asked for Edwardian fish and chips for his birthday meal :D

It is weird that he's taller than me now. He's also got a fuzzy lip now and a deep voice and it sounds really strange as he's more manly than boyish now.

    I don't feel old enough to have a 15 year old :o:D

Have a good day all xx

  • Hi ladies, sorry i have been away for so long, this working full time and being a mum has really slowed my online life down.

I have a question: my LO is now just over a year old and is a very happy little chap, but since we started to wean him he has been sick following any food containing rice. So we stopped feeding him rice for a couple of months, but yesterday i gave him a few mouth fulls of a pouch with rice included in it. He was sick over night, but it never seems to upset him and he is still eating and drinking well and very happy active little man. Bum shuffling all over the place and giggling. Now is there a chance he could have an intollerance to rice? i can not find anything anywhere that says this exists?

I have not seem my HV for 3 months so have not had a chance to discuss these issues. Thanks guys

well had my first night out since little one was born 7 weeks ago, and it was good but i did miss him so was home just before 12 wich is good for me as its normally about 4 or 5 in the morning. had to pump and dump though as i did have a few drinks.

hope everyone is keeping well. x

my eldest who is now 12 had an intollerance to baby rice and couldnt have it so it does exist. just changed him to baby cereal/ rusks and liquidised food instead.

he ended up having intolerences to different foods at different ages in his life and is know only intolerent to peanuts and some animals. hth
now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j

When I was first weaned, my Mam discovered that egg yolk made me come out in nasty itchy lumps, and anything with tomato in made me vomit. Over the years it gradually went away and I can now eat foods with egg yolk and tomato in them with no ill effects.

It could be something like that with the rice, but I would get it checked out with a health professional to put your mind at rest.

Had a good day today and Josh has really enjoyed his birthday. Charlotte saw Santa and told him she only wants books for Christmas :D

ah missy is it ok if I lol at that haha. My OH was always getting weed on by Bob. He either isnt as quick as me or he doesnt open the nappy let the air get there then close it again and wait till they've weed - the cold winter air can make them go when they are tiny. He always done a proper man panic about it too when if it did happen to me calmly picking up a cotton wool ball was enough to cover and soak up the damage.

Leopard lady hiya x I dont know about rice but dont see why not. When Bob was weaning he'd be sick everytime he had sweet potato because he would make himself sick - he hated it, but eats it happily now.

becles happy birthday for josh for yesterday, hope he had a nice day. I am really not looking forward to the teenage years.

We've had pretty rubbish run up to Christmas so far - the batteries I ordered were missing from my parcel, DD coat has been stolen from the school and everyone was ill just before Bobs birthday and my washing machine broke. But its all looking up now -OH has the job he wanted lined up due to start on 12th dec, we've bought all the presents and wrapped them and my friends who are so hard to round up are all coming over for dinner on the 15th dec - I cant wait now.

PS I know I moaned about my mum but she was witnessed buying many kids toys at work during the double discount day recently so maybe she has changed her I'm not buying anyone anything tune.
  • Hi all, thought 'd migrate over here from the pregnancy board (even though little one is now five weeks old tomorrow yay!)
I think I'm starting to find my feet now with my little fella. He's an absolute star - beautiful, happy and thus far, touch wood, no colic crying. He also goes most of the way through the night - I'm getting up at around 3am and between 6:30 and 7 am. I still complain but that's just me. Some days he refuses to sleep at all and I get nothing done so swings and roundabouts really but he's been a good night baby since birth.

COngrats to everyone who has migrated over. I've had a flick through the last few pages and recognised a couple of names :-)
