Hi guys - am delurking! BigBird - have you ever tried taking him into the shower? Not sure if you have a separate one or not. I used to take LO into the shower with me and let him play while I got showered (DH was outside keeping him amused through the glass!) and occasionally running water over him to keep him warm. He thought this was hilarious! At the beginning I took him at the end of my shower and ran the water over him telling him how good he was. he was fascinated by the shower head and eventually I dunked him under. he was surprised but didn't yell. Can now take him in and get him washed in there. He still prefers the bath however and yes he cruises round the edges putting toys everywhere! DH just chucks a jug of water over him to rinse as we don't have a shower attachment in the bath.
Re Christmas presents last year LO got that mush he didn't know what was going on (although in fairness he was only 3 months old so didn't really expect him to). We got him a pewter stocking holder with his name engraved on it from us. This year he is getting the matching Christmas stocking (again with his name embroidered on) to hang on it. He gets one good present from us and Santa brings some other stuff. He gets thoroughly spoiled by family - little monster! Thankfully he has the sunniest disposition ever!
And as for Christmas - one year we spend Christmas day with my parents and Boxing Day visiting DH's and then the next year is Christmas Day at his folks and Boxing day at mine (which is this year). Works for my family. my brother and his wife do the same so we all end up at mum's on the same day each year.
And he's started walking (just before he turned 13 months) - he's all proud of himself. He started saying dada a while ago but now points to DH when he says it. He can say mama but has no idea that I am mama - daft child. Never mind - he'll get there in the end!
And enough of the waffle - back to lurkdom!0 -
Thanks for the suggestion Nepthys. We do have a separate shower but it's out of action as it has developed a leak which resulted in water running into the back of the electrical fuse box downstairs  So that's waiting on being fixed at the moment
I have taken him in the shower when we've been swimming though and he was OK with it, so that's something to try when it's all fixed.
Yay for your LO walking :T Joe took a couple of steps on a couple of occasions last week but seems to have decided that walking's no fun and he'll stick with crawling for now. Though I did catch him running with his walker the other day :eek:You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

hi, not sure what im doing for Christmas yet, had it at ours last year for both families and far too stressful!!
H loves going in the bath but wont sit still either so i just use a washcloth to wash his hair so it doesnt run down his face.
We have got him a garage with cars for his christmas and will probably leave it at that cos hes still so young.
Jenny not sure about Clarks but you can get Clarks shoes in Brantano and as well as the full price ones my local one always seems to have a couple on sale.:j0 -
Hi all. Sounds like the LOs will do very well for Xmas. We've just had a nice couples mooching round town and treated ourselves to a Xmas coffee. Our LO was perfectly behaved! So proud of how he's improving. He stayed at the inlaws for the night and slept there really well. The break was nice but I really missed him.
He's growing nicely and into 3-6 months. He's 12 weeks old now.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend x0 -
Hi to Claireloo and Claire. Not "seen" you for a while, hope you're both ok.
Hi Sorry just reading back. We've been on holiday for a week!!! Only Center Parcs but it was really good fun - took L swimming and he loved itGood job coz we're starting Aqua Babies at the end of the month!
I'm glad LO has settled down with his sleeping now. We generally only get woken once in the night now around 3am for a feed but for the last couple of nights he's been a nightmare and woken several times throughout the nightbut I think its because we've been away and he's been unsettled. Also last night was our first night back home and back in his crib - after a week in more spacious travel cots I think he found it quite restrictive so I am moving him into his big cot bed tonight:o
I don't mind him waking once in the night so long as he isn't too difficult to settle back down which he can be. Also it would be nice if 3am could start to be pushed out to 4 then 5 so I feel like the end is in sight. Its been 3am since 8 weeks and he's nearly 12 now so I would like to see an improvement soon but I think it could be a few more months until he sleeps through. :eek:Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
my little one doesnt seem to like his moses basket any more, he will sleep if he is held or he will sleep in his baby chair so during the day i have been laying this flat so he gets some decent sleep he is only 5 weeks old, his chair does lay flat but it worries me that its supportive enough for long periods but as soon as i lay him in the moses baskets he creats and then gets overtirednow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0

Mirror - I don't know what the answer is but my LO has never napped in his crib in the day - I have tried and the best I have had is half an hour twice (in 11 weeks:o). He sleeps on his bouncy chair in the lounge, his car seat or pram. I asked my HV if the bouncy chair was OK and she said it was as he goes in his crib at night.
It may be that LO is finding the moses basket too restrictive - this is what's happened with L in his crib. Its not the length thats the problem - its the width - he keeps bashing his arms on the side and waking himself up.Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Charlotte used to fall asleep on the floor sometimes. I used to put her down on a play mat and she'd fall asleep among her toys, so I just chucked a blanket over her and left her on the floor
Had a good weekend. Went to Cragside last night for the Fantasy Forest. They had a trail through the woods and everything was lit up, then there were storytellers at certain points. All the bairns really enjoyed that.
Been a lovely sunny day here today, so we went to the Waterfowl Park and they enjoyed that too.
All shattered now from all the fresh airHere I go again on my own....0 -
Bigbird - this works very well for us to wash E's hair without the water getting on her face. Highly recommend:

So, I'm rubbish at keeping up! Just wanted to say to Doglover that it feels that you're going to have disrupted nights forever, but it does pass. I remember the last middle of the night feed I gave E was at 12 weeks. 4.20am was always her preferred time! I found a dreamfeed worked really well for us and would feed her around 10.30pm every night and I think it is because of this that we were never troubled by sleep regressions or growth spurts and she's been a good sleeper ever since. *touch wood*!! I didn't drop the dream feed until she was established on solids, at around 7 months.0
