Vroom - aww , i am getting Poppy weighed next week, think she will be slightly less than that. We got told you have a 2 week window to get them on 3 meals a day at 6 months (not sure how true that is), bit difficult if he isn't holding head up though.

Becles - hope the tooth feels better soon.

Poor you Beccles, I hope you feel brighter in the morning.

It's mad, you're constantly told that all children develop at their own individual pace so why now is it so desperate for them to be carbon copies with feeding? I don't think you can win!

We had another great day. Went to a group then a group of us went for lunch. Yes LO cried sometimes but then so did the others. You're right Wendz, I feel much better for getting out and it's really boosting my confidence. Not got much planned for tomorrow but I'll def do something once I know what the weather will be like.

I had a long soak in a hot bubble bath and used my posh Sanctuary stuff, and I'm all tucked up in bed feeling happy and content again now :D

I think development milestones are a waste of time. Fair enough use them for guidance and a general idea of when they should do things, but there needs to be common sense as well.

    James v Charlotte:

He walked at 9 months and climbed out of his cot at 10 months! She didn't even sit up until just before a year and walked at 14 months.

She talked early and had a huge vocabulary by her second birthday. He barely said a word until he was 3½!

Nothing wrong with either child and they were both brought up the same way, just different things happened at different times.
Here I go again on my own....

Good luck with DD1 Delain. A taster of what we've gotto come .....

Sorry Claire I got the Claires muddled when I replied! So make me insanely jealous - does your little one go down in her basket in the evening and stay asleep till morning??! Remind me, is P in her own room or with you still? How long did the crying go on for when you first started putting to bed for the night?

Aside from sleeping/colic/reflux my little boy is doing great! His development is good and now we have found the new prescription formular which he's taking his weight is doing well. He's 10.12. How is your little lady doing? Sounds like you're mastering motherhood very well! I'm impressed.

Hi doglover, sorry I'm only getting round to responding now. Yes baby is in with us and sleeping through the night, usually from 11pm to 9am:eek:(and yes I know we are very lucky, we totally weren't expecting her to be sleeping this well so early). I'm def not mastering motherhood hun:rotfl:I'm just muddling through but it does feel like its getting a little bit easier as each week goes by.Re the crying it lasted a max of 10/15 minutes but felt much much longer at the time. I hated it and found it really upsetting even though I was sat beside her soothing her. I think though realising that she cried/shouted like that even when I held her made it a little easier to deal with as it's just her way of going to sleep. Although she doesn't do it for as long now and sometimes not at all. The colic is also def easing off, though I think the dentinox we've been using isn't really helping anymore so going to give something else a try, maybe the gripe water as I've heard lots of good things about it.

I'm so glad to hear your wee one is doing better, I've read you recent posts and you sound so much happier which is great. Good luck with the consultant this week, I really hope you have turned a corner and things keep improving. We've been going out to some classes too, its great to socialise with other mums and babies and its def does help with your confidence. I can't believe that a few weeks ago I was worried about leaving the house on my own with the baby whereas now I just head out and hope for the best lol

And on the subject of xmas I'm not even thinking about it. We're selling our house at the moment and hoping to complete at the start of next month so I'm dreading the stress of moving:eek: Can't even begin to think about how we'll have to spread ourselves around this year to keep everyone happy!

Becles, poor you, no wonder you feel miserable. Hope your bath cheered you up x

So, whats everyone getting their wee ones for xmas then? I need some ideas to steal:D

Does anyone have any tips for washing the hair of a 12 month old? Joe hates having his hair washed and has now taken to burying his head in my chest when I try to do it so I end up soaking myself when I try to rinse the shampoo out. I know it's because he doesn't like the water running over his face, but he won't sit still in the bath and also puts his head forward when I really need him to put his head back. We tried DH holding him tipped back (like we used to do when he was tiny), but that just ended up with Joe hysterical :(

Your bath sounds lovely Becles, hope it helped you feel better. I've got Sanctuary stuff that was given to me when Joe was born but I've never used it yet. I need to start pampering myself more.

If we can't get Ivor in at the cattery then we're going to get an automatic feeder with a timer and just leave him at home with that. He's got his catflap into the conservatory and we'll turn the heater up in there so he's got somewhere cosy to sleep. To be honest, I think he'd be happier with that as he hates going to the cattery and barely eats when he's there. He also get's quite freaked out by people he doesn't know well, and we don't have anyone else that he's familiar with who'll be around at Christmas.

For Christmas Joe is getting one of these and one of these (but I bought last week when it was half price ;) ) Though he got so much stuff for his birthday that I'm tempted to just give him one of them and save the other for a couple of months. Or does that make me a big fat Scrooge?! :p

    Hi BB,

My LO is the same age as Joe and I put her in the big bath. I run about 4 inches of water into the bath and lay her in on her back. I use the shower attachment to run water over her hair and shampoo and rinse while she is kicking like mad to make splashes :). I then sit her up on her bum and let her play with her bath toys while I run warm water over her tum and back. She loves it. Never any tears.

When she is sitting up she sometimes crawls around the bath or kneels up and holds onto the edge.

Let me know if this is any help.

Claire nice to hear from you. Jealous doesn't begin to describe how I feel about hearing that your LO sleeps soooooo long!

For our boy we're getting (well got) a lovely toybox. I'll get a few little bits too. The family are getting a bit excited (1st baby etc) abs getting a jumperoo and a rocking animal and clothes galore so there isn't much left to get!! Not complaining though.

Had a very bad night. Went to bed and couldn't get to sleep then Poppy woke up and would not settle in her cot, ended up with her in with me when i gave up about 3.30. I am not sure if because we have moved her cot down to the bottom (although she is fine in travel cot which is low) or apparently it is a full moon tonight so unsettles babies lol. Everytime i put her in she would be crawling round banging her head on the sides arghh.

Love the presents Bigbird. It is not like he will know if you don't give him one so if you want to spread them out do it! Sounds like he got lots for his birthday so not like he has nothing to play with!

Becles - you are right about their development. They are all so diifferent, I have heard they are often movers or talkers.

Thanks CL. The main problem with Joe is that he will not stay still for more than a few seconds in the bath. He's usually standing up, cruising along the edge, dragging toys and bottles in or chucking them on the floor. I'm not sure I'd be able to lie him down. The shower attachment could be a winner though, hopefully that'd be enough of a novelty to keep him still for a bit ;) I'll give that a go.

Funny you should say that about the full moon, Wendz. Joe was quite unsettled last night too. Maybe that was it.

If anyone's still looking for present ideas, Joe had one of these for his birthday and absolutely LOVES it. Particularly shouting "RRRAAARRRRR!" into the microphone :D

We were playing with one of those on Tuesday round a friends house and they were all loving it. Poppy seems to be enjoying the noisy toys now.
