Merfe - thanks for your reply. What made you decide to put yours on their front? We've got the angelcare monitor and LO lifts his head for quite a decent time now and when he's on me he switches from facing each side to the other. A relative has told me to put him down on his front. He is at the moment whilst snoozing in the front room and is sleeping brilliantly. I'm just worried about doing it when I'm asleep. He's snoring his little head off!

I was reading up on SIDS and it seems that it's bad having him on me as well especially as I'm so tired.

Eta- when I try and put him on his back he cries and vomits which is why I'm keeping him on me. I did try the side but he rolls onto his back.

Poor little soul although I do think he's just used to not sleeping on his back rather than pain as he always loves kicking around on his changing mat. Not so keen on his play mat but I wonder if that's because it's thin and less comfy? I thought about getting a hard ish foam pad to put underneath.

Doglover - sounds really hard you poor thing!

Bigbird - hope Joe had a fab birthday! Sounds like he had a great party. I can remember when you were pregnant on the pregnancy thread, time goes so fast.

Lirin - i didn't get BH so can't help. When i went into labour was more like period pains.

MERFE - have fun skating on sat, sounds fun.

Poppy is really clingy since the weekend, she was ill so don't know whether she is still getting over it or whether it is seperation anxiety. She cries when i put her down quite a lot and when i leave the room. She has always been fine playing on her own before. Struggled to get her to sleep tonight too, she managed to shuffle up the other end of the cot on her hands and knees in her sleeping bag crying silly thing.

She is getting good at her crawling, she now tries to follow me out the room hehe.

With my first it got to the point I was so tired and the only way she would sleep was on my chest that I was falling asleep on the sofa with her on my chest which is worse than her being on her front in her basket next to me so I tried it first during the day when I was awake and she slept so well i went a while longer before at about 8 weeks i put her on her front at night and got a good 4-5 hours sleep phew. DS slept like an angel on his back - so lucky because it meant no worry. Then along came Bob and he was so much like his sister but not quite as bad, at 5 weeks I was in hospital with mastatsis and his Dad put him on his front and had some lovely sleep and he refused to sleep on his back after that, even though I did try, he just slept better on his front. Both were really sicky whereas DS was not so I do think this has something to do with it.

Hiya Giz how are you and baby giz doing?

Fireworks were great, got completely soaked queuing for a burger and hotdog for the kids then the rain stopped for the fireworks so stood there dripping wet, shivering. Its a great show but the weather was pants, DS was all for going home just before it started but he loved it in the end.

Finally finished the big project I was working on. Just got today's visits to type up when Charlotte is in bed. I'm knackered and have struggled this week as I've been tired and I think I'm coming down with a cold bug :(

Love and hugs to all xx
Here I go again on my own....
  • Aww bless your lo Wendz think t started bad with separation anxiety about 6/7 months, unfortunately has only got better when he started nursery (after a bad start) but today he climbed off me and was off - didn't even notice me going!

T always slept on his front when he could roll over and still does now but is more of a risk for SIDS but a greater risk is them sleeping on you while you sleep on the sofa, is hard as you are so desperate for sleep. I remember one night when t was a couple of months he wouldn't sleep so I took him for a drive and fell asleep on drive but we left him car seat expecting him to wake in couple of hours but slept ages (felt so guilty but refreshed too.) I think the no cry sleep solution has something about changing tummy sleepers to sleep more on back so you may want to read that?

We have been down to see our family for a couple of days and she has been a lot better, has stopped crying the second i put her down and have managed to leave her so think it might just have been as she was still feeling a bit ill. Had a bad night last night, she woke a lot but was coughing and snuffly poor thing.

She has been so funny at my mum and dads crawling after their cats who are seriously unimpressed. She is so excited though and squeals! She also crawled right up to OH's mums great dane haha, she has no fear.

Hope you haven't come down with a cold Becles.

Hi all! Thanks Sir M. I spoke to the HV earlier this week and she said the same. My LO is in his crib on his front from now on and i'm trying to get him used to his back in the meantime. He has never slept so well (well, he didn't really sleep before!). He's managing all of his daytime naps and tonight he's only woken once for a feed (so far)! He's going down awake and drifting off himself!

I know it's not an ideal but I've already met someone who puts hers down on it's front and has since 2 1/2 weeks. This turning my LO into a different child! He seems much happier generally. I'm really pleased to be in my own bed again.

The HV suggested I try and start teaching him how to roll over so he learns it from as young as poss which will reduce the SIDS risk just as Sir M said.

Right I'd better go...back to sleep!!
