Hi pigpen!! It took 3 months!! Oh no that's ages. My stitches are still there but i feel so swollen and bruised that it's uncomfirtable to walk properly. I was hoping someone was gonna say a few weeks.

That pic of your brood is so lovely!! x

I had an episiotomy, my tips; wash the area gently but regularly to prevent infection, I used a spray of witch hazel after toileting. Plenty of painkillers, don't wait till you need them - every 4 hours or so. Get your midwife to check you are healing properly and ask the GP to check at your 8 week check. Remember they take a while to heal properly but should get gradually better each day.

Sorry can't help with the tearing. I was really lucky and just had mild tearing with all of mine. Hope it settles down soon though xx

Just wondered how Doglover was getting on - she sounded so down last week? Our LOs are only a few days apart and we followed each other through pregnancy so I have been thinking of her. Hope she's doing better.

For me, touch wood things are going much much better than those first few weeks. L only wakes once in the night and for at least a week now has settled back down to sleep on his own quite easily so I'm not up for hours at a time anymore. We still have the inconsolable crying everyday at 5 til 6pm but I know to expect it now and know there isn't much I can do about it and I know it ends so I don't let it bother me so much. Hoping he grows out of it soon though.

My next worry is that I have to do into work for a full day on 15th and L will be with my parents all day. I am so worried about it. They have been living abroad and only came back last week so don't really know him. But it needs to be done I suppose...:o

SVsandy, I tore quite badly too and it took a couple of weeks for me to be able to walk comfortably, but more like months to feel back to normal down there. Hope your discomfort settles down soon. Definitely take painkillers, I also took arnica tablets which are supposed to help with the bruising.

Joe had a fab party on Saturday :D And he came away with so many presents I think we're going to need a bigger house, never mind a bigger toybox! We've been opening a few a day as I think if we saved them all for tomorrow he'd just be completely overwhelmed by masses of new stuff.

He stood on his own (for more than a couple of seconds) for the first time on Saturday, then by last night he was happily standing while swigging from his sippy cup :D And we've had a couple of unaided steps too :T I can't believe my ickle baba is getting so big and clever - where has this past year gone?? :o

  • Hi Sandy :hello: another vote for arnica tablets, I had 2nd degree tears this time and the pain from the bruising had completely gone about 10 days after the birth :) I had an episiotomy first time around and that took a while to heal, probs about 6 weeks I would say before I could sit down properly!

Great pic of your brood Pigpen :)

Little man having a major growth spurt, feeding about every half hour at the mo - I'm knackered! Gave in and offered him a bottle of formula last night, felt so guilty for it but I was exhausted and empty but secretly pleased when he only took about half an ounce and then completely refused the bottle!

    Hope everyone's ok xx

Hi ladies. Welcome, hi and congrats SVsandy. I'm afraid I can't give you any advice but I do hope your pain eases off shortly.

Claireloo hi and thank you for thinking of me. I've been lurking but not had much I could contribute and to be honest, I've still got my hands full! My lovely little boy is still totally gorg but still not sleeping unless I carry him or he's in a sling. I'm not getting much rest but hey ho. I've tried everything and he just won't go down! He'll fall asleep on his play mat on his front though but I worry too much to let him go down on his front although I do wonder if him sleeping on me when on his front is much better?!

If there are any new ideas out there please share!

    Back to lurkdom X

HI, sorry for this if I'm intruding, will be on here soon.... Preg thread quiet tonight.

    Quick question.

Thought I'd had BH's before, I'd felt bump go like concrete on top. Now unsure.

Last 45 mins, every few mins, bump going very, very hard on one side, and leaving me panting, lasts a min or so. Not sore, but very uncomfortable.

DH and I had thought it was baby's butt sticking out, but it's so regular and so long I'm really unsure. Seems to be dying off a bit.

Is this BH's? maybe what I thought was for the last few weeks wasn't?

lirin sorry I have no experience to help, hope you go the answer. I've had tightenings and with Bob to the point they lasted a little longer and gave me shortness of breath but they have only ever been described as tightenings. I dont know what the difference between them and bh is or the start of labour.

ah Doglover all I can say is 2 of my 3 have needed to sleep on their front and literally would not sleep otherwise and have been fine with it but it completely your decision and you have to be happy with it.

Bigbird I hope joe has had a fab birthday, that looks like a brill toy at a bargain price x

I managed to get the kids something each for Christmas from the ELC 50% off sale with an extra 20% off code so proper bargains phew.

Dads up at the mo and all for taking us all iceskating on Sat, should be great fun, havent been for years and DD and DS have never been. Stepmum is gonna watch Bob so OH and I can both have a skate too. I got some sparklers for the evening too, they say not for under 5 so it is just the right time for DS to have a go just need to get that bucket ready. We are going to the schools fireworks display tomorrow night so its just sparklers on sat. Hope everyone else is having a good week x
