jade I use anbesol liquid it is loads better than the gels - I've used it on an ulcer I had too so really can vouch for it, much easier to put on than the gels and seems to relieve pain alot better too. Ibruprofen is really good for teething too.

Ah pigpen 2 out of my 3 have been sicky babies, its really not nice. Bob wasnt as bad as his sister, she was sick alot after every bottle and it didnt stop when they have weaned either so instead of milky sick they bring up the food - nice. Course they smell more - their breath is yucky and they need changing all the time, big bibs are good if they dont mind wearing them. Bob puts up with a bib if he is eating but just pulls it off if he isnt.

Becles hope james ankle is feeling better soon x

I've got Bobs and DD Christmas presents and some stocking bits but DS has so many toys and some really great ones for his birthday that I really can not think of something to get him.

I don't think we'll be having a tree this year as I'm sure it won't last very long with climbing boy around!

Plus we rearranged our living room to give more floor space for him to play and now there's nowhere to put one :o

I got some things for Joe's birthday and Christmas when Argos were doing their 3 for 2 on toys. We're not buying him loads as he's had things all throughout the year and is still too young to understand what it's all about anyway.

I've got quite a big family so we only buy for the children and for my Mum and Dad. For DH's family we did a "Secret Santa" for the grown ups last year.

For Joe's birthday we've hired a hall and are having a joint party with 2 little friends as they all turn one within a couple of days of each other. We're having a Halloween theme and I can't wait! :D

We use Anbesol liquid here and it seems to be really good. Joe happily opens his mouth when he sees the bottle now so I can rub it on his gums :) I second MERFE's recommendation for Ibuprofen too. I give Joe a shot when he's having his bath and it really helps get him through the night. The only night he's been up in the last few days was the day I forgot to give it to him and it took 2 hours to calm him down enough to give him a dose and then get him back to sleep :o

Hope James is enjoying putting his feet up on Doctor's orders, Becles and his ankle is better soon.

Well I have my 10 to buy for I do these first.. 1GS 1 niece 2 sisters + 1 OH 1 mother stepdad and my OH.. OH buys for his 2 parents, 2 step-parents, 1 sister and bil and at least 1 friend... oh... and me

So we cant leave it until November.

Anbesol liquid.. I use it to see if the teeth are through yet.. and she always bites me. Liquid too.. gels are rubbish they slurp it off your finger so it never gets where it needs to be.

  • Hi All,

Sorry i dont post much, normally by the time ive read back Emilia needs me so i have to run, am yet to master the breastfeeding while on the computer lol.

The cold is much better now thankfully, although she is still a bit of a snotty beast at the moment.

Managed to get out to Rhyme time at the library today and went for coffee with the girls from baby group after, i have to say our surestart centres are a bit hit and miss, the one i go to is excellent (otherwise i wouldnt go lol) as i started going as a bump i find it relatively easy - my main motivation for going is that i am living in a new area and had just 1 person other than the MIL that i could visit in the day, therefore it was either get out and find people or spend the next 9 months home alone.

Emilia mostly sleeps through everything but i get to have a chat and see what other babies/mums are doing as they get bigger.

PP - hope the sickyness stops soon with Dot and that Squeak is feeling better following her teething

Becles, hope James' ankle is better soon!

Jade - ive been buying Christmas presents since, um November lol, there were some things in the Boots 3 for 2 that were not needed for Christmas so got put by for Birthdays/Christmas this year instead :) But there is still loads to get, i find little and often easier than all at once!

Bigbird, hope the drs was not too bad, i had a coil for 5 years proir to Emilia and loved it, for me it worked really well, it did take a little getting used to though!

CL, hope LO is less hungry now, do you think it was a growth spurt?

Clareloo - hope the comfort milk helps

Sparkle, how are the conversations going? Im finding it easier to talk to Emilia now, i dont know why but i felt a bit odd talking to a sleeping/quiet baby while out in public but mostly people ignore me and i just get on with it lol :)

    Puzzled x

Hi there - I'm not sure if I've posted about this before, but I'm hoping someone might be able to offer me some advice.

My LO is due to have his MMR etc soon and I really don't like the practice nurse who does the immunisations. If it wasn't for the fact that I like my dr I would move to another practice because I feel quite strongly about this...

So, I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to have immunisations done somewhere other that the GP surgery? Do other clinics (like the baby weighing clinics for example) offer this?

    TIA

Some clinics do offer vaccination clinics.. Ring your HV and ask they will have a list of clinics that do. Here there are a team of nurses who come do them at home. You can request the GP does the vax too. Some of the childrens centres/suretarts run vaccination clinics as well.

Dots bedding has been changed twice today due to sicking and the basket lining is covered as well :( I only have 4 sheets so she better stop soon.

  • morning ladies, can i join in please?

i'm mum to lily, who is 2 and a half weeks old and i'm in need of some help!!!!

lily is being very fussy, i've been up since 2am feeding her, she's slept a bit in that time but not much. after an hours break i started feeding her again at half 6, about 45 mins ago she started pulling on and off the nipple after just a few mins. i've changed sides and she's doing the same each side. as it's not what she wants she's now got frustrated so is screaming! :( i've now given her to my husband as i'm tired and need a break as nothing i do can soothe her :( what can i do? i need sleep! wed night she had me up from 12.30 feeding. she'd fall asleep on the b00b, but when i try to put her in her crib she only stays asleep for about 30 mins before wanting to feed again! this went on most of yesterday, settling for no more than hour - she normally settles for about 2 hours - and that was only once. the only time she settled or longer was when my husband was wearing her in the sling.

i'm exhausted :( and frustrated that the only way i can get her to settle is to feed her and right now that's not working. annoyingly the husband has got her to calm down, i'm assuming that's because he doesn't smell of milk.

    any one offer any advice?!

    Morning

James ankle is getting better. It's not as swollen today and he can put weight on it again. He spent the day at my parents yesterday and I'm off work today as Charlotte is off school on a teacher training day.

Yesterday was just mad rushing about all over the place, so it'll be nice to have an easy day today!

Lovely to see all the new faces :)

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having little angel. Hope Lily will settle down soon, but I know how frustrating it can be when they get like that.
Here I go again on my own....

Little Angel- sorry can't offer any advise but hope she settles down for you soon. She could be going through a growth spurt maybe? It is really hard but it does get easier x

I had a pretty bad night myself here she just kept waking up. I feel knackered today.

Off to get my haircut in a bit as we are off to a wedding tomorrow.
