Evening all, sorry i dont post much, its been a bit hectic.
Emilia has had a cold all weekend, i have been flitting between calm and collected and freaking out not knowing what to do lol, she seemed to be getting a lot better and then all of a sudden a lot worse so i took her to the Dr today who confirmed she has a head cold, i felt like a bit of a wally for taking her when i thought it was just a cold but am glad i did because now im a lot calmer.
I am feeling a little better about things, OH pointed out that we will have lots and lots of decisions to make for her and therefore we cant second guess ourselves every time or we will torture ourselves. He has been really supportive which definately helps.
I have been talking to her lots and singing as well (a bit of a natural thing for me, im always singing something badly lol) i took Emilia to rhyme time at the library last week, free and great fun, she slept through it but i had fun and enjoyed the singing and things so am taking her again on Thursday. I dont know if this is a national thing or a local but it was really good! Maybe someone else will want to take their little one?
With the cold she has been feeding a lot more which is understandable so its taking a bit of adjustment for all of us and sleep would be lovely but since she is 3 weeks old tomorrow and im only just complaining about lack of sleep it cant be bad.
Beccles, that sounds great, im glad my babbling about squirrels isnt going unoticed (well, it might be at 3 weeks but she might learn something as she grows lol)0 -
I gibber away to mine constantly too... about housey things.. what I am doing or what they are doing.. stuff going on around us.. what we are having for dinner.. and just general waffle.. mine like to talk.. and talk a lot!
Dot is now a whopping 5lb 9oz...
at 18 days.. and we have been discharged by the midwife today... whoop!!!!!!!!
DS3s blood sugars are dropping .. or have just about halved today so things are looking better there..
DD4 is complaining her back is hurting... all KHs fault... moron that he is..
Parents evening tonight.. DD3 is doing well, and has actually started to say she doesnt understand things and can she have more explanation.. MASSIVE step forward! DD4 is doing well.. but her teacher knew nothing about about the cerebral palsy/physio/hypermobility or anything else.. that took up a lot of time.. DD5 is a chatterbox, though a bit sad since her bestest friend left the school.. theyve gone back to Spain I believe.. so she is sad.. None of them appear to have been out of sorts the last few weeks when I have been in and out and back in and back out of hospital.
I keep feeling we should be taking Squeak out more... in the vain hope she will behave better when at home.. but if I make any plans at all they are immediately thrown out by appointments, illness or the weather! It is no good!
Puzzled... for the first year they are subject to a virus/infection every 4-6 weeks.. it is very normal!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Is that so, I have a very abnormal baby then, I seem to have had one cold after another (probably cos I'm running on empty) but LO has only just acquired her first one at 8 months. She doesn't seem too badly affected. We're having problems feeding lying down as she struggles to breath but otherwise she is still as cheerful as ever in the morning where as I all grouchy struggling thru the snot.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Mine has had 2 lots of snuffles and a dose of pneumonia in 14 months... but they are infected by them apparently but they dont necessarily become ill.. depends on their immune system I guess. I dont think DD2 has had more than 3 colds in her 14 years!! She is never ill!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Finally graduating from the pregnancy thread although baby is 4 weeks old tomorrow! How do I have a 4 week old daughter?!
Glad to see the others with babies around this age don't know how to entertain them either and are wondering if they are doing things right! I went to a mother and baby group yesterday and everyone said they were amazed I had gone out which made me feel better, I had convinced myself everyone pops their babies out and are out enjoying the world within a week :rotfl:0 -
Squeak is 14 months and I still havent done a group with her.. the thought makes me feel a bit sick TBH.. The groups here are full of either child minders who dont want to be child minders or parents who have horrible children who do exactly as they please and are ignored.
DD1 was a week old when we first took her to playgroup.. DS1 was nearly 3 and drove me to distraction in the house so we had to go out.. plus DD1 was a screamer... she was not a nice baby.
DS3 attempting a full day at school.. noone rang me yet

I've only just started going to groups last week (5 weeks old). This morning I went to a Baby play group - obviously Leo is a bit young and slept the whole way through but it was nice for me just to get out of the house. 2 friends I have met were also there with their tiny ones so we just sat around talking while all the other "older babies" mummies ran around with their LOs.
I need to get out of the house for my own sanity so I try to do something every day - even if its just a walk round the block. I have started driving again this week too which has made me feel a whole lot better and more positive.
A question please about comfort milk. HV suggested I put Leo on this due to his wind and colic so I started yesterday. He was already on the medium sized teats so I have just carried on with these but he seems to be struggling to take a full feed now. I can't possibly need to go up another teat size when he's only 6 weeks old - can I?Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Claireloo the comfort milk is really really thick - we had our Squeak on fast flow teats quite young with it too.
Nice to see you back PP
I'm still stuck using OH's computer lol
Hope everyone is all well

Hi Bunnyhop, welcome to the thread.
Puzzled - hope LO is feeling a bit better now, horrible when they are so little with a cold.
I like going to groups, Poppy is much better behaved than at home haha. Went to the under 1s group today which is nice as they play on the floor while the parents chat. Poppy was rolling round trying to steal everyone elses toys!0 -
Hi Everyone
Now that I have finally caught up (Congrats PigPen),am just delurking to say hi to the new mummies who have joined. Have been lost in the abyss of many many family weddings and was finding it hard to get on here to lurk as I normally do.
CL- Tigger is about 10.5 months, crawls and has just learnt how to pull himself up yesterday in his cot but not yet on anything else. Doesn't hold bottle or sippy cup to drink, except to water the floor.
Doesn't babble (at all - should I worry?), squeals a bit - that's about it.
Tigger's had runny nappies for ages now, how long is too long for teething poops? Started 6 wks ago where he had 1.5 wks of upset, 8 days of normal and then runny loose stuff since. Not poorly, eats and drinks really well and hasn't lost weight.
Went to the docs last week as frequency was increasing and then got results of 'normal' back today.
HV and Drs just say to start a food diary. Am going to increase feeding starchy food as they advise but am sick to death of all this poop! He's cut his top left front and it now looks like top right is trying to make an appearance too, do you think it's this causing it?
Any advice?
Argh- Sorry for long post.0
