Exciting about the pregnancy stuff Jennynoo! Thats good you don't have to wait too long for scan.
I loved being pregnant but not having another one yet hehe.0 -
morning everyone
hope all the little ones are well x
jennynoo glad the appointment went well, I think 18 days till the scan sounds like a lifetime away in those early days, hope it goes quickly for you. PS I dont blame the midwife for not checking for a heartbeat they couldnt find Bobs at my 17 week check up imagine the panic after 3 mcs - turns out my placenta was at the front and it was difficult to find everytime.
It was so hot and lovely yesterday and now today I have to go to work booooo. We set up the travel cot in the garden yesterday and stuck Bob in it with a few toys because the grass was too wet for him to roll about on. Hope this nice weather lasts a little longer x0 -
Good morning! Yes the weather is great!! We're going to a BBQ later!
Congrats Jennynoo! Even with all the handwork of our LO I can't wait to be preg again! DH needs more convincing though.
Claireloo and Claire feel free to PM re - reflux and colic as we've had so many dr's, hv's etc involved and I feel a pro now! Our goregous boy still suffers and doesn't really sleep but there is an improvement. He's 6 weeks now.
I hope everyone has something fun planned for today. Take care x0 -
Morning
Gorgeous day here yesterday. Had to work in the morning, but then changed into shorts and t-shirt and got some work done in the garden. Had the back door and windows open until bed time as it was so warm!
It's rained overnight and it's grey and a little cooler this morning. Off to watch Josh play football shortly.
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -

I feel so lost in some ways, i have a lot more experience than most first time mum's becuase i worked in a nursery, but in other ways i feel a bit lost, i am not sure if i am doing anything right (other than putting the nappy on lol) she seems happy enough and everyone is saying that i am doing well but with OH back at work now its a lot harder, he was so good when he was at home and now everything is much more difficult mainly because i dont have him to bounce ideas off or to ask if im not sure (he has little experience of children but oodles of common sense)
Hi Puzzled I can totally relate on this - LO is 11 weeks and every day I have to make those kind of instant decisions, it would be lovely to have OH here so he could suggest things and we could talk, I just hope I am doing things right! I do talk to him in the evenings but it's not the same as both deciding together.
What sorts of thing should I be doing to entertain LO at this age? I leave him on the playmat / jungle gym and also do tummy time there, have him in a day cot which has dangly things (which I remove if I want him to try and sleep), take him for walks etc. Apart from that of course cuddles and coos but I run out of ideas though!
We're having a BBQ later, really looking forward to it - hope everyone is having a lovely day x

I'm so happy you've said this. I just don't know how to entertain my LO. He also has a play gym, bouncer with dangly things and a mobile over his cot. I'm exactly the same - what do I do with him? I can drive again this week so I think we'll be going out a lot more...
There is a baby group (suitable for newborns) at my local library on a Wednesday morning so I'm also going to check that out this week.Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -

I would be interested to know what your doc said about colic - I understood there was very little I could do about it - just one of those things I have to wait for him to grow out of:(. We have bought some special anti-colic bottles (not sure what use they'll be) and give him Infacol before each feed. I'm told the crying is at its peak at 6 weeks (that's this Friday) so maybe things will start to calm down next week.
Thankfully we don't seem to have reflux although we have had some spectacular vomitting episodes (but they aren't that often).Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
claire you can also get silent reflux where there is no vomiting just pain from the extra acid or from the acid jumping up. You can get colief for colic its 11.99 for a tiny bottle and you just put a couple of drops in their bottle I think - I've never used it and I think some people have success with it and some dont.
I specifically told OH yesterday that Bobs bottles need doing during the day now instead of the evening and he would have to do them whilst I was at work. I get in he disappears to work and what do I find in the kitchen - Bobs bottles grrrr, he hadnt even washed them up. Glad I saw them otherwise it would have got to bedtime and I'd have had nothing to give him.
Still got a laundry problem - its all done just no time to put it away so there is a basket full upstairs, a tumble dryer full and a load in the washing machine ready to go on in the morning. I'm working 8-1pm tomorrow then straight to baby group, pick the kids up from school, OH will leave for work at 4pm, dinner then getting everyone to bed. Putting the washing away will have to wait till tuesday afternoon.0 -
Don't feel you need to entertain babies all the time. It's good that they can learn to play independently, so you can get on and do other jobs while they are amusing themselves.
You need to find a balance between playing with them, and letting them figure out things for themselves.
Football was good this morning. They went 1-0 down in the first half which was disappointing as Josh's team had worked hard. The coach told them they could win it if they got out there and played as hard as they could. So they went out and scored 7 and won 7-1

Wow!! 7-1!!!! That's great Beccles, Josh must've gone home feeling very proud :-).
Sparkles and Puzzled - I'm sure you're both doing a fab job. Your OHs would no doubt agree with your judgement anyway but I do understand that the reassurance is nice.
Merfe - poor you, you've got your hands full! Washing will wait Tues - there's more to life (unless youve got nothing clean to wear?!).
Claireloo - you're right about there not being that much you can do for colic. There's infacol which you already use, colief as someone said (it's a faff but people swear by it) and something like dentinox which is something we didn't try. Baby yoga is meant to be great for learning positions which help the pain apparently. Baby massage is another thing that's supposed to be great to help. We've also tried cranial osteo - I'm not sure if it's helped or not but he certainly sleeps very well after a session. He's had 3 so far and going back on Tues.
The reflux is a whole matter. It's evil and I feel bad for my baby suffering with it. I'm glad we're being taken seriously by the medics as I was definitely considered a neurotic first time mum at first.
Claireloo - did the HV help you during the check up? I hope you're feeling less weepy.
I'm famished! Off to find food . . . . .0
