HV coming back today. They just keep telling me its normal to be weepy particularly between 4 & 6 weeks. I do feel a lot better today and this morning has gone well so far. I am finally starting to see a sort of pattern which makes me feel like I know what to expect next which gives me a certain amount of control back and I don't feel like I'm flailing about as much.

I'm braving the supermarket shop on my own with LO this afternoon. Eeek!

Hope the supermarket trip goes well. I know it sounds daft but doing little things like that and managing fine does help you feel a lot more positive in yourself and your ability to cope with being a parent.

You can do this you know ;)
Here I go again on my own....

    Hi all

Hope everyone's well. I've a bit of catching up to do as not been on for a week or so. We had last week off work as the childminder was away, we stayed on Burgh Island in Devon for a few days from last weekend until midweek and then had my Mum visiting for a few days. She's on her way home now and I could do with a couple more days off to recover and catch up on washing and cleaning!

I was a bit worried about how Joe would be with her as he's not seen her for a couple of months. But I needn't have worried as he took to her straight away and they've been having loads of cuddles :D I think he's going to miss her. Next time he'll see her will probably be Christmas. I do wish we lived a bit closer to my family sometimes.

Good luck with the shopping trip, Claireloo, though I'm sure you'll be fine. At that age, Joe would mostly sleep the whole way around. It's good to get out and about and you'll soon realise that you can manage perfectly well to get those mundane everyday tasks done, even with a LO in tow ;) It's also perfectly normal to be teary. Those first few weeks are very hard - I don't think anything can really prepare you for how hard it is (other than having had a baby previously), and everything seems so much worse when you're trying to function on too little sleep. I was a complete wreck for the first few weeks but I made myself go out and do things like the supermarket shop, or going to the mum and baby group, and it really does help.

Well I'm pleased to report the shopping went well. Was a bit worried when we first got there as Leo was awake but soon fell asleep and still is now we're home!! you're all so right I feel like I've taken a massive step forward just getting out and it being OK.

    Thanks everyone xx

ah claire that is so good to hear it went well - Bob was a nightmare to take shopping till he was about 8 months, he'd always start screaming the minute we got to the tills. Luckily because OH works nights I managed to get away with not going on my own with him so one of us could hold him whilst the other one packed. Although I did once I think and got the cashier to pack for me whilst I held him - better than listening to him scream.

With my first I was very teary on and off till she got into a better routine probably around 3-4 months I even took myself off to stay at my dads for a week without my OH because I felt I needed a break and my dad doesnt really work - he has a shop downstairs but got cover since his first grandchild was visiting. It did me the world of good, I went home so refreshed and DD was so good on the train and helicopter.

Last 2 days of work havent been too bad, The girl that is normally a pain was too busy to be stressy - she is in again tomorrow though doing overtime. She is a really lovely girl and when we all go out she is great but she can not cope with working, gets far too stressed by it and snaps at people including customers and is just really anxious, she also starts about 20 different things and leaves them for other people to finish off but doesnt tell you, is late for every shift then every Monday she gets in at 10:20 ish, starts at 10am then goes down to the canteen and gets some breakfast and sits at the back of the pharmacy eating it - I really dont get why she cant eat before she starts I start at 8am but manage to eat first then wait for my break. She does other things she really shouldnt too like taking money on the shopfloor and getting shopping during her shift.

Hi all. I hope everyone enjoyed the good weather, we didn't really get it here in Northern Ireland.

Just wondering how the babies the same age as my LO are getting on? Merfe, BigBird and Tinks I think have LOs about 10 months old? Are your babies standing / saying Mama / walking, etc?

My LO has just started to pull herself up on her knees, but isn't up on her feet yet. She is doing some great babbling that is nearly Hiya, Dada and Mama. She is a lazy moo though and has no interest in holding her own bottle.

Bob doesnt hold his own Bottle and DD never did, DS held it from around 5 months. Bob has only just started commando crawling so no where near pulling himself up or standing yet although I dont think it'll be too long. He babbles dadadadada and other nonsense but no mama and I think he'll have a delayed speech like his sister they are very similar. DS was generally alot faster at everything but he had his sister only 15 months older to copy. Bobs a very slow baby but he is happy and will get there in his own time when he is ready - he was making himself laugh with his toys earlier and is just a joy to be around. Been wearing him out building towers for him to knock over at opposites ends of the lounge. His favourite game now he can crawl is going and shutting the back door so need to keep a closer eye on him but kind of glad the weather gonna get worse so we can just keep it shut.

Hi Merfe, my LO still isn't really crawling properly. She commando crawls at a good speed, because we have hard floors and gets up properly on all fours and rocks back and forth, but hasn't put the two together and crawled with her belly off the floor yet.

She can go from sitting to crawling and then sit up again by herself, but this has only been in the last month.

I just ask out of curiousity. They are all so different. My friend's nephew is a week older than my LO and he is cruising, but I can't see my LO doing that for quite a while.

    morning x

Bob does the rocking too but just hasnt worked it out - I do think the laminate has slowed him down a little bit. He cant sit himself up yet though but tbh now he is on the move if we ever sit him anywhere he is off crawling.
I know loads that have been crawling for ages and have moved on to cruising now and some have even taken little steps unaided. I think I have about 2 friends with babies that are as slow as Bob but its fine, he likes to spend alot of time watching his brother and sister doing stuff rather than doing it himself, they all do it eventually. I think he seems so slow because my middle one was so fast to grow up but Bob might be my last one (still undecided) so I'm quite happy for him to remain as babyish as possible for as long as possible.

Bob left 3 oz of his milk this morning - very odd, he has never been off his milk. I think his teeth might be causing him grief again because he didnt want his dummy in his mouth either. He's happily playing so maybe its nothing, he is trying to bite elmos nose, poor elmo!

OH got in at 3am from work so I'll be taking the kids on the school run, putting Bob down for a nap then going to work. I might ring around 11am just to make sure OH gets up because he'll let Bob nap all day otherwise. I'm thinking of putting Bob in a nursery for Tuesdays just so OH can have a proper rest especially if he finishes late, Bobs getting to an age where he doesnt really need to nap straight after the school run too, he happily does but I think it has a knock effect on the rest of the day.

My LO has been really hungry the last few days and woke this morning at 5am crying with hunger. I took her into the kitchen to make a bottle and she cried while waiting for it and as soon as it was made she was pulling it off me. I had to let her drink it while I was walking back to bed. She's cleared all her food and had an extra 2 yoghurts a day for the last 3 days.

Merfe my LO will only nap for 45 minutes twice a day. She never does a long nap. It would be useful at the weekends, so I could get some housework done.

How is everyone else and their LOs today?
