My eldest was very sicky lilian and so is Bobby and they both sleep on their front and so far they are ok dealing with their sick.
Bobby is well fussy and grumpy alot of the time, I'm wondering if cranial osteopathy might help him at all. Has anyone taken their baby for this? It's only gonna be an option if I get the surestart grant but it might be something worth doing if it helps little man out.
I'm in 2 minds about it though as I remember Lucy cried alot too but seemed to settle down around 3 months so I wonder if I should just wait till 3 months and see how he is. Him and lucy are very similar and they look alike its so weird, my middle baby looks completely different and was a dream baby - it must be the way their genes were dished out.0 -
morning.
sleep going better here too, not giving a bottle in middle of night and he doesnt seem to miss it, still waking up about 5am, but nappy change, song and he is settling down himself. unfortunately i have had to stop the bf all together, i was going to try continue just morning and night feeds but my milk seems to have disappeared mostly- just getting a little grey trickle, oh well- he doesnt mind bottles and i suppose it will be easier when i go back to work. got meeting about this eventually in couple of weeks so need to try work out what i want to do.
have mixed feelings about going back- looking forward to working again but dont want to leave my baby!:j0 -

I just wanted to say thankyou to all the mummies who gave me advice on the BFing and moses basket issues. We have decided to give up on BFing as it was just too stressful for all 3 of us, Sam has taken to the bottle like a duck to water and I'm happy he's getting everything he needs from it.
As for thde basket, we've made a little bit of progress, we've decided to sleep in shifts for now and keep putting him down in it after every feed and change - tonight he has slept from 10.30pm - 3am and then on and off since then. Because he was 2 weeks early OH hasn't finished his handover at work so he's going back in today until Thursday then he'll have his 2 weeks off so we're hoping to crack it then.
My new worry was that he's sicking up milk in his sleep and we were scared he would choke on it - however I believe this is called posseting? Have read up on it and got a few good tips.
Day 5 today so he has his heel blood test - poor thing!
We put Daisy straight in her cot with no problems and only used the moses basket as a day time nap place in the first few weeks after my section so I didn't have to keep walking up the stairs. Have you tried putting in the basket something that smells of you? I used to put Daisy's nighttime sleepsuit down my top before bedtime!;) In fact I still do sometimes!!
Don't worry about the blood test... Daisy didn't feel a thing!
Loving the pic Becles!!:D

Morning all. My little one is 5weeks old and the only way she will fall asleep without crying of fidgeting, is on my chest, i dont mind doing this but i dont want to spoil her for later on. I read something that said newborns cannot be spoiled within first 3/4 mths, but i find this slightly hard to believe because she sometimes screams and when shes picked up she quickly stops! it also said u should always attend to a crying baby- and she caught on to this also! she wont settle in her moses basket so think im going to move her cot into our room tonight and try that!
i have a travel cot coming from mothercare today and i cant wait for it to arrive, it has a changing unit on it and a mobile... betcha she settles in that! Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz:A

My lo was the same - she loved to sleep on my chest. Now at 17 weeks she refuses to sleep if she is being held and has to be in carrycot/crib etc - I miss snuggles with my sleeping baby
:j for Daisy sleeping Smartie.

Kataratarina my eldest was like that, would only sleep on my chest. This one most certainly stops crying once I pick him up, I have to carry him round most the day but sometimes he has to be put down and sometimes left to cry - it doesn't hurt him just makes me feel guilty. IE I had a shower this morning whilst he was asleep but by the time I'd finished he was crying but he had to wait whilst I sorted myself out with a towel and put my glasses on etc. He also cries alot whilst I cook dinner or am sorting pack lunches in the morning but the older 2 need looking after as well so sometimes he has to wait. I'm not saying I leave him for hours to cry but it does him no harm to wait 5 minutes till I've finished the task I've started, other things I've learnt to do one handed so I can carry him whilst I do it.
With my daughter it got better around 3 months I think its when they lose their startle reflex so I'm waiting to see if this one improves then too. My daughter and Bobby both sleep on their fronts as well, I know it isn't recommended but with my daughter it was the only way she would sleep not on my chest.0 -

Kataratarine, try not to worry! You should just do what feels right to you and not worry about spoiling. I agree with the 'you can't spoil them' camp. Your baby has just come from you where every need was met without them even having to think. She also doesn't realise that you are not a part of her any more and also has no idea what has happened to you when you are not there. She has years to learn patience and self sufficiency and the best way to learn it in my opinion is from having a secure base to start with.
The sucking thing is probably because she finds sucking comforting, maybe her gums are bothering her as well.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Some just like sucking. Josh would only settle if he was sucking either his hand then later his thumb, or a toy or one of those gel filled teethers. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I am loving all these new littlies, mine is a big scary monster these days and it seems like about an hour since she fed/stared/pooped/slept on a predictable two hour cycle.
Second to last baby shots went as well as can be expected this morning, although one of the kids in the waiting room was a mean little horror and his mother just sat there and watched him do it. I said at one point, Come over here, sweetpea, that boy's not a nice boy for you to play with, because he was pushing a chair into her and she's only a toddler and not quite steady on her feet and his mother was just vacantly staring at him. Sadly I said it in English because I was so irate and she didn't give any sign of understanding me. She screamed though and I was almost in tears myself.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
