  • lilian- i can relate with you. My wee woman is just 5 weeks old and she HATES her moses basket. We give her, her last bottle and she falls asleep in our arms and once we put her in her basket BING her eyes are wide open. She hates lying on her back but i am too scared to lay her any other way. I tried proping the mattress but she didnt like it. We swaddle her but its hard to feed her and burp her in a swaddle otherwise we would wake her swaddling after iykwim. During the day she is a brilliant sleeper, and would sleep through a riot but at night its the complete opposite. we have this http://www.mothercare.com/Blossom-Farm-Sit-Me-Cosy/dp/B002OIRM52/ref=sr_11_1/278-8168637-5354640?_encoding=UTF8&mcb=core and she loves sleeping in it but my mum says a big NO to letting her sleep in it at night.

I know there are people who let their children sleep in their carseat because again Olivia goes straight asleep when in that but I am afraid of this too.

She is sleeping in her basket now but it does take a while to settle her in it. Im maybe going to put her into her cot in a week or so and see how she settles is (once i find a space for all the cuddly toys that are in it)

I do sympathise with u because i was expressing for 1st 2 weeks due to flat nipples, but i wasnt expressing enough througout the day and my boobs dried up and for the last 4 weeks i havent stopped feeling guilty, but i did try but obviously not hard enough.

Olivia is up every 3 hours and i havent got her into any kind of routine and am fretting incase i have spolied her too much, i know once she starts to be weaned she may start sleeping through the night but this is a few months away and i am counting the days! Lol

She is a brilliant baby but the 3 hourly wakes are catching up on me as OH is back to work. My mum and MIL have taken her a total of 3 nights from shes been born to try and let us catch up.

Its been hard but totally worth it, as she is a wee dote
Sorry i've really waffled on :(

Congrats Kataratarina, and Lillian :D Nice to see people coming here from the PG thread, too many people just disappear when their babies are born!

Cant advise on BF really except to say get all the help you can from MW, and as sugar says, get her to show you how to feed laying down. My friend who is BF still at 3 months says this is much better at night. Also get her to show you the 'Rugby ball' DD1 liked tis whilst she was BF before my milk mysteriously disappeared.

The process of birth and new babies are exausting, give yourself time after the birth to recover before you start worrying too much. IME BF babies do seem to be 'hungry' a lot till the milk comes in. (was told that in hospital having DD1).

Well it's 4am  The toothache is not so much of a problem, antibiotics are doing their job,but now I have 3 mouth ulcers, I just itch like hell everywere and the neuropathic pain in my arm is back. Am going to have to ask docs for some neuro painkillers, was hoping I wouldn't have to but it happens more often now, usually at night and I don't need waking up lol.

Excuse my whiny poor-me post lol.

Hope the pain stays away delain xx

Been up in the night with a banging headache and felt sick. Came down and lay and read a book for ages before I went back up to sleep.

Shattered now, but just working from home today so I can take it easy.

Have a good day all xx

    Hi Ladies,
please can i join? I gave birth to little William back on 15th Nov! Not the borth i wanted, long labour too many drugs and then forceps, but then he arrived and is gorgeous.

I can sympathise with you Lillian, i was kept in for almost 4 days as William wasn't latching on and in the end was screaming every time he was put near my breast! I made the decision to combination feed before leaving hospital, and then on my first full day home William latched on! We are still combination feeding as he is a very hungry boy, but BF is going well and has got a lot easier.

With the moses basket, snap! He hated sleeping in it and prefered sleeping on his side if he had to. We co-slep for the first 4 weeks. This meant hubby and i sleeping in seperate rooms, one on sofa bed and one in bed. Then we visited my Mum and tried the travel cot with basinet .... wow he loves it. I also got told about a book: Sleep, the easy way to peaceful nights. It has really helped me understand William a little more. Last night he slept for 7hrs 40mins!!

Life is def hard work, the tiredness is a killer, but William is making all these wonderful sounds today and everything is wonderful!

Well i will hopefully be back soon :)

Hello Leopardlady, it really is lovely to have new mummies and new babies on the thread :)

Miss M has decided that me feeding her messy stuff is no longer acceptable. We're going to need a full change of clothes for us both before Gymboree and I've just finished wiping yoghurt off my glasses :rotfl:

Afternoon all - very late night for me but Miss M loves her babysitter very much and I was very reassured.

    <snip>

In other news, did really well with my Secret Sales voucher yesterday, after cashback etc I ended up spending 19p on a Christmas gift, a £77 skirt and some organza giftwrap :money:

    :j and :T

Thought I'd check in here seeing FB is not allowed in work ;)

Hope everyone is well, been ages since I posted here!

 Hello to lovely new mummies. Well done to all those trying and struggling with bfing - it is hard but it does get easier you and baby are both on a steep learning curve. Don't ever feel as though your best isn't good enough, becasue it really is, and you'll get there in the end by whatever means is best for you both.

I would recommend spending a day in bed just feeding and sleeping and I hear lying down to feed is amazing too although we never really got on with that.

I have a question too actually, for the bfers, when you dropped the last bedtime feed, did you replace it with a drink of milk from a cup? I'm not introducing a bottle at almost a year old but am thinking of dropping this feed soon, maybe. I dunno actually lol, we'll see!

We have not dropped this feed yet (though he slowly seems to be having shorter and shorter morning ones?), but I know a lot of people have mention transitioning straight to milk in a cup. Nice to see you here!!

Nice to meet you Leopardlady and congrats on the birth of William. Sounds like you are doing a brilliant job of breastfeeding xx

Hope you get the yoghurt off your glasses SS. I'm really anal and can't stand any smudges on my glasses and I'm forever wiping them :o

Nice to see you RB :) Charlotte had a sippy cup of milk from about a year old before she went to bed. I threw all the bottles out just after her 1st birthday as I personally don't like older babies with bottles.
