Thanks for the websites for childminders confuzzled. Does anybody know how far in advance you book up with a childminder? I am prob not going to need it till March time but if we don't go with childminder i will need to get place at nursery.
the sooner the better! The good ones get booked up quite early, a bit like nurseries :) I rang around & met 3 cm's before I decided on ours, definitely meet them, I ended up meeting our cm for a 30min chat etc...ended up there for 2hours:eek: We chatted like old friends and Fuzzlet took to her no probs:D and she reminded me of my Mum, which was part of my criteria:o.....have a google around for q's to ask cms when you meet them too:)

Fuzzlet has decided that the push-along walker is now indeed to be used for walking instead of climbing..she's not quite 10 months:eek: It brought tears to my eyes watching her:o I'm such a sap:p:)

PP squeak is such a cutie:D:D

Exercising, I found walking to be great, its amazing how far you go when pushing a buggy, it kinda gives you a reason to walk iyswim. Then again I enjoy walking anyway, most of our holidays [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE]were walking ones:D

I am hoping that somebody can recommend a decent sling that does not antagonize existing back problems please? I had a really good one when my younger son was a baby which I cannot find but have no idea of what it was called or who made it. :(

I think a wrap sling is best for backs as if you tie them right you really spread the weight all over your torso so you don't have any pressure points. I can still carry my DD for up to an hour in my Storch wrap. With a newborn you might want a stretchy wrap as they as easier to just put on then slip LO in and you can cover them up better to keep them warm.

If you don't like wrapping then a mei tai might suit as it has long 'arms' that you can tie in various ways to suit you.

Personally I don't like buckle carriers as I can never get them to adjust small enough.

Let me know if you want any more info.

yep I would second that - have just worn my wrap + baby to pick up ds2 from playgroup, I have raging sciatica at the mo and it is fine.

I can't crochet either. My great-Nana was always doing crochet. She used to make piles of doileys, coasters, lavender bags etc., for presents and to donate to church sales and stuff. She tried to teach me but I couldn't do it.

She did teach me to embroider and cross stitch though and I can do that, and useful things like sewing buttons on and repairing clothing. I've got one of her embroidered pictures, and a table cloth decorated with embroidery that she made when I was a teenager for my "bottom drawer" :D

Had a good day out with my Mam and really enjoyed spending time with her
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks everyone for the reassurance about formula feeding. Its not what I wanted to do but I know its not the end of the world either- I'm just finding it hard to keep that perspective in mind at times. Sir Monster thanks for posting that link, I've bookmarked it to read later.

Yay Claire great to see you over here as well! You sound almost identical to me even down to your DH doing most nights. I did one recently and ended up staying awake till 5am and felt totally incapable the following day and spent a lot of it in tears convinced I was worlds worst mum. My perfect DH is brill but back to work in about 10 days and I'm dreading it!!

Which formular were you on before changing to Aptamil? Has the change helped? Which bottles do you use? We're using SMA so if you think the change has helped the colic I may try it with our boy. I'm just worried that changing could create problems?

Beccles that pic of Charlotte walking your dogs is so cute!

Hi Doglover:D I honestly don't know how I'd cope without my OH, this parenting malarky certainly hasn't come easy to me and I have relied on him so much. I'm hoping I'll get more confident on my own with her soon though-well I'll have to as I have no choice. But its scary isn't it! We changed her from normal Aptamil to Aptamil comfort and we're using the Mam anti colic bottles which seem really good. Its still early days but I'm hoping they help, she has adjusted well to the comfort formula and seemed a little more settled last night in that she screamed slightly less and slept a little more. Not a massive difference but better than previous nights so thats good enough for now. We also had green poo:eek: Thankfully I had been prewarned by my SIL but don't be alarmed if you're greeted by that lovely sight next nappy change:rotfl:

Clarieloo, well done on the expressing:T Try not to think of it as your body letting L down though as thats totally not true and I hate to think of you thinking that way:(

Pigpen, that photo is lovely. What a gorgeous wee girl you have.

Hi all just a quick visit from me.

Claireloo as others have said, don't think of it as your body letting L down, you should be proud of yourself for expressing and doing what you have so far. I know what you mean about the faff with expressing as thats what I did. My Lo had some complications and was nasal tube fed for the first few weeks. So I had to express. He then went to bottle feeding as when trying to BF he would go into a really deep sleep and take nothing. Once we managed to get him totally off the nasal feeds he was so used to the bottle that he wouldn't latch on anymore. Trying to do 4hrly feeds, express, try to BF and then offer bottle was a nightmare. I never seemed to get 5 mins for myself and also had to top up with formula as I wasn't producing enough. I stopped expressing at 6 weeks. That was the best decision for both of us. I got more time to enjoy my baby, and he had had a few weeks of the nutrients etc of BF.

    Hi ladies,

Sorry to just barge in unannounced :p I may be clutching at straws a bit here but does anyone know why my boobs have been tingling for the last few days?! Babe is about to turn one and I stopped bfeeding him about 3-4weeks ago. He started really painfully biting me so I went cold turkey but as far as I was concerned there haven't been any issues with this. Took about a week for the milk to feel like it'd gone, boobs felt and looked their pre-pg size but in the last few days they've got bigger again and tingle. I'm not totally sure of where I'm up to in my cycle but I think I'm coming up for being due. When I've tried evil google it's told me i' e either got breast cancer or I'm pg, no thanks to both actually!

    Thanks ladies

    You could be pregnant... :p

Or it could be the milk ducts shrinking and your boobs going back to normal. So long a there is no soreness or inflammation it is probably fine.

    Afternoon all,

Think I am veering towards childminder now for my childcare as was chatting to some Mums earlier and no-one seemed to have anything positive to say about the nursery i was looking at. There aren't any others that are half decent within walking distance. Have had details of a few childminders from the family information service so going to get in contact with them and see if can find one we like.

Which do you think is most likely? Not inflamed or sore, just tingly
