tsstss that's great news about the sleep :D

I just can't wait for school to start so that I can have more control and know that they're only eating appropriate food most of the week.

The school are going to start doing cooked dinners soon I think... which they've never done before and DD1 is a believer in cooked food and always hungry, so I might get them for her (although it's another expense we don't need) and then we won't have the drama of me cooking 3 dinners because DD1 can then have something smaller after school if she doesn't fancy what the twins have, or what OH and I have.

I have a tesco order coming at lunchtime :D I'm looking forward to having food in, as my plans to get out have been scuppered all week.

tsstss- you lucky thing with the baby sleeping !

Can imagine it is a nightmare when people are giving your kids food you don't want them to have. My Mum never gave me and my sister sweets as small children but wonder what she will be like as a grandparent.

my family are VERY well trained.. they do not give my children anythng without asing first.. we have lots of people with severe allergies so the have to make sure it is ok first. My cousin learned the hard way and gave my sister starburst which sent her completely doolally for 3-4 days.. lol.

If family bring sweets etc round they give them to me.. the children are very good now and know to give stuff to me and usually do so without asking.

The only issue we had was my sister getting Squeak a huuuuge bag of chocolate buttons for her birthday.. she was allowed .. 2.. (I scoffed the rest and put the £1 in her money box) I hate babies having sweets..

Squeak down for a nap in her nice clean bed.. and I shall go have lunch and see if I can manage a 10 minute tidy in the front room.. it is quite skiplike! .. though better than it was yesterday!

We tried talking to Moomin about the different medicine being good for different things but she had none of it.. we can but try I guess.. Thankfully she has never needed antibiotics or anything else because it would be a nightmare to get any of it down her!

Sugar does have an effect on them delain. I've had disagreements with my Mam before for giving Charlotte too much sugar as it sends her hyper.

I picked her up from her Dad last week and she was bouncing around all over the place as he'd given her Starbursts just before dropping her off. Luckily Josh was late finishing football training, so I just let her run manically around the edge of the field and she calmed back down again.
Here I go again on my own....

School dinners are great - ds1 had them for years as I found it to be cheaper than packed lunches just for the one ( the one treat thing would tend to go missing and I couldn't blame the LO :rotfl:so would end up buying more or having to convince a 5 yr old that a yoghurt is a treat). mind you since Jaime they have got more expensive though a huge lot heathier!

My fil has this really annoying habit. He will ask first and then if I say no ds2 will "sneak" the treat from under his nose.....and it's all supposed to be a big joke.....so i either have to say yes or get undermined by them. Makes me fume  .

I don't like babies having sweets either so will probably do the exact same thing you do when my grandma (84) gives my littlest a family sized bag of choccy buttons....I don't know why a normal sized bag wouldn't do she's gonna make me fat(ter) lol.

tsstss.. I am so mean I would take it off DS2 and say I said no and I am the boss!!.. and I would tell FIL undermining you as the parent is not acceptable..

instead of saying no.. could you say you cant have it now but we can take it home and have it after dinner/tomorrow/later.. ??? That way FIL no longer has it for DS2 to sneak and you have control over when he does get a treat.

But then.. I am evil.. I also foresee problems like this occuring with OHs family.

pigpen could she not just have more of the under 6 calpol? isn't it just a different strength?

we've had a nice weekend. I've lined up loads of house viewings for this week as we're a bit concerned our purchase might fall through. I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon for my freelance work too which won't finish til 5.30 which is annoying as I won't get home til nearly 7 (L was in bed at 6.20 tonight!)

that is what we have been doing but she has 4 spoonfuls which means a large bottle lasts a couple of days and I dont want to keep buying it because I am tight.

PP humm cant do option 1 as I think it would probably cause a row but option 2 sounds doable will try to remember for next time.

My ds1 took calpol melts before he turned 12 - had to stop buying them though as he started inventing headaches - or trying to take one for minor wounds. they are just a bit too tasty lol.

Id go with option 1 purely to put FIL in his place.. I think grandparents forget what it was like having people do stuff like that when their own children were little.. and they think they have a given right to underrmine their own children as parents.. it does annoy me greatly... but as I said.. I am quite evil!

Hopefully the melts will help Moomin.. and work out cheaper than buying huge bottles of 2month+ capol every few days!
