Morning
Sorry to hear all of that Rach. It's not your fault and he's bang out of order for having a go at you and calling you names. You don't deserve to be treated like that *hugs*
Sorry to hear about all the bad nights.
We're off to Clarks this morning for school shoes for my brood. I absolutely hate this part of school preparation
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
Hugs Rach, that's seriously out of order for your DH to speak to you like that. I'd seriously want to slap DH if he ever spoke to me like that - and never mind the spare room, he'd be sleeping in the shed!
And I know what you mean about parents. Mine are over 250 miles away and my Dad has never made any effort to come down since Joe was born. He's seen Joe twice and both times we went up there. Whenever I speak to him he moans that Joe's not going to know him, but I've stopped worrying about it now as he's only himself to blame and I don't see why I should be the one making all the effort. My Mum has been down here a couple of times and is coming again in September, but my Dad never offers to come with her. But even my Mum is a pain about it. There's always something going on with one of her groups or her charity fundraising that she can't possibly miss, so the times she can come down are usually when it's not really convenient for us.
Joe's becoming a real nightmare when we're trying to change his nappy or dress him. He just will not lie still for more than a few seconds. Reusable nappies have been well and truly ditched because of it as they are far too much of a faff to try to get fastened. DH gets really wound up by Joe's struggling and then getting upset when we won't let him roll over and crawl off - to the point that he said to me yesterday that he can't cope and he thinks I should do all the nappy changes as I'm calmer about it. My reaction? :rotfl: :rotfl: As if!
I picked up a free bag of victoria plums yesterday while we were walking to the pub for lunch, someone obviously had a glut of them and had left them out for people to help theirselves. So I need to get some sugar now so I can make some jam

Squeak has got some little cardboard books that have made nappy changes a lot easier Bigbird! It's a little library of in the night garden someone got her for her birthday, but any smallish book (so joe won't get a broken nose if he drops it lol) will do. It's been a godsend. Before that she'd have an extra nappy, hide behind it and play peekaboo, which is her favourite game.
In fact this morning she responded to the alarm clock (which I'm totally turning off today as it's not needed) at 6.45 by sitting up, grinning at me and saying 'boo' lol.

Morning ladies I'm hoping some of you can help. It has been a tiring few days now due to a) my DD getting up every night with a sore bottom and b) my previously sleeping through the night DS waking up nearly every hour!
Took DD to Doc last week and he took swabs and a urine sample, the swabs have come back clear and I have to redo the sample but she is getting so distressed at night with it. Her bottom (front) is ok before bed but flares up at night and is red and extremely sore. Doc gave us thrush cream just in case it was that but it doesn't seem to be helping so we have gone back to using sudocreme, has anyone else been through this and any tips?
DS is 17 weeks tomorrow (can't believe it!!) and has his first tooth, is this going to put him off his milk? I am breasfeeding but he gets a formula bottle at night. Last week he was taking an 8 oz bottle and feeding every 2 hours but this week he is has only taken 4oz last night and 2oz the night before and is going longer between breastfeeds but then wakening up more often during the night, it's playing havoc with my supply!! TBH I am totally shattered and it has been an easy ride up to now, I am very lucky I know, but don't know what has hit me!!
Rach I am so sorry your OH is behaving like that it made me very  when I read that, nobody deserves to be treated like that, if my DH said things like that to me (not that he would), he would be out on his ear after a swift kick to his balls!!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Rach.. you know how I feel about your OH (probably similar things you all think about mine
) so I shall send you lots of hugs and sleepy vibes for L. Squeak woke about 4 times coughing last night.. and had a 10 minute scream when I went up to bed.. I think she is coming down with a cold and/or teething again.
Teenie... Try using something other than the sudocrem.. it might be causing the probem as it does burn. Try just plain vaseline or savlon or germolene see if that helps any. Silky pjs often make them sore so stick to cotton ones or nighties if possible. Is she maybe fiddling before she goes to sleep? It might be worth explaining while it is ok to do that it may be contributing to the irritation. Does she have a bath before bed? it might be she is not drying or that the bubble bath is irritating or not being properly rinsed away.. very easy to not rinse in the shower!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Rach ((hugs)). Do as Delain suggests don't do anything I have been tempted to that when my DH is a twunk but don't have balls to do it
Can't believe I'm mum to a one year old, thanks for all your messages. Had a hectic few days, didn't stop quite glad to be back to normal! Think he is teething too as was inconsolable this morning.
Teenie Not sure what to suggest re feeding, can you go to a bf support group or ring up a helpline? Could be a growth spurt or if teething breastmilk is a natural analgesic and t used to feed more when teething.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

I'd second trying something other than Sudocrem, Teenie. Joe doesn't have sensitive skin but I had to ditch the Sudocrem as it made him much redder and more sore than the rash I was trying to get rid of.
Thanks for the book tip, delain. I'll give that a go. We do give him something to keep him occupied but nothing seems to hold his attention for very long and once he realises he's not going to be allowed to roll over it just seems to make him even more determined to do it and then he gets upset when we keep stopping him. The CM sits on the floor with her legs outstretched and basically pins his arms with her legs so he can't go anywhere, but I'm not flexible enough to do that!
Just redone my car insurance. I saved £40 by taking out a new policy rather than just renewing, even though the new one is for exactly the same cover and with the same insurer! And I did it through Compare the Market so they'll be sending me a Meerkat toy
A belated happy birthday to T, Sir M. Wow, this past year has gone so quickly! You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Afternoon ladies!!
Not posted for a while, but i have been lurking! Well max has settled great in his cot-the first night was a bit dodgy but now he's doing so well-he settles at bedtime then usually sleeps till about 2.30ish for a bottle then settles himself back til about 6. last night he lept til 4am then had a bottle and i left him chatting and laughing to himself cos i was bursting for a weehe wasn't crying so i went back to bed-he must have settled himself as it was 6.45 next time i looked lol
i think he's teething as well-the usual signs-rosy cheeks, chewing hand, enough dribble to fill a swimming pool! I need to get some teething powder ready, but had to send hubby with my debit card so he could pick up an order from tesco!
was not happy-sent him with it to go and pick it up-it was a bmx that they had reduced to £35 a couple of weeks ago and apparently it got lost in transit  i ordered it 2 weeks ago, they could have let me know and given me a refund!! DH fibbed and said it was for ds1 for his birthday which is tomorrow (it is for ds1, but not for his birthday-his birthday isnt even till feb lol) so they said they will try and get a bike there for him to collect tomorrow at 4, if not they will give a refund plus compensation lol
And I CANNOT wait for next monday when the kids go back to school-just a shame that DS2 only does 1/2 day for about a million weeks before starting 'proper' full days! oh well, I should be as fit as a fiddle by xmas then lol0 -
Thanks ladies, I didn't realise that about sudocreme thought I was doing the best thing
I have some germolene here so will try that tonight and if not I will try vaseline. Actually my Mum is a great believer in an antiseptic cream called Acriflex, she has used it for years and years so I will get some tomorrow, it works wonders for nearly everything!
J's gums are really swollen poor wee toots, i have been applying the anbesol and giving him A & P's powders and they seem to be helping. He is so out of sorts just now (he had his jags yesterday too!), he is such a good wee boy it's horrible to see him so distressed.
Sir M I can't believe T is 1 already!! I remember a lot of you when you were ready to give birth!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
