Well exactly, just saying thank you while we were there would have cost them nothing.

It's a shame some children don't say thank you. Mine have been to a number of parties and some don't say anything, some say a verbal thank you and others write a little note to say thanks.
I don't like parties with a present box/table where you just dump the present and they get taken away to be opened afterwards. I think that spoils it as you don't get to see their face when they open it which is the best bit!
Lily - I said this a few pages back for people doing the party circuit, but it would probably be a good idea for you too. Start a present box, and everytime you see something on special offer or reduced or whatever, buy it and put it in the box. Then when you need a present, you'll find a decent looking gift in your box that you paid next to nothing for

Josh said today that when he's 18, he wants to go to Ibiza on a clubbing holiday. I said I wasn't sure and there was plenty of time to think about it, and he reminded me his 18th is just over 3 years away *scary though and where did my baby go?*Here I go again on my own....0 -
Becles it always seems to be the table at every party we've been to. Twin2 went to a party today actually, the first from school in a while. It was a boy who I think is SEN as well, anyway I know she loves him to bits and when he goes out of class sometimes to do his extra activities they take her along as well if it is things they both need to work on.
Went to sainsburys, apparently he's dinosaur mad so I got him a fleece blanket with dinosaurs on on the recommendation of a lady with a 7yr old boy, who apparently really loved the one they'd just got him and they were reduced to £3 from £7 :money: I hope he liked it anyway. Makes a change from the usual plastic tat
DD1 isn't having a party this year as it's hard because so many kids don't RSVP and then don't show. You never know where you are then.
We will make sure she goes somewhere though.
I've been shopping online for her, I got a new bop it thingy because her co ordination is poor and her reaction times can be slow, and she asked for it so hopefully if she plays with it a lot it will be helpful for her. Unfortunately the noise from it will drive us all nuts but it was reduced to £10.99 :money:
So I'm having a bargainous, if slightly hormonal week!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

I hate the lack of RSVP's as you never know if you need to cater for them or not.
Also hate the ones who bring siblings to the party and ask if they can stay as they have nobody else to look after them. You can't really say no and you feel crap if they don't get a party bag and some cake, so you spend the party frantically hoping the extra siblings is equal to the no-shows so you have enough stuff to go round
Quiet day planned today with plenty of work to keep me busy. Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -

I think we'll just have a few people here for an afternoon, not a party as such, that way I can just invite people I know and who's younger children I'm aware of
August birthdays are such a pain, at least with the twins you can generally chase people up at school.
My mum took the twins to get sandals yesterday and they came back with really nice clarks ones (even for the sale) which was lovely
plus it means they have now been measured and we can order their school shoes from Clarks online which they will love
Will just have DD1 to sort then.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Thanks Becles, that's a fab idea! :T I won't be put out as much if I've only spent a few quid!

I'm starting a presents box too .. girls under 12 ... I am so fed up of buying girls stuff... I want a boy!!!!!!! If this baby comes out a girl I might get it a sex change before it is 1.. would that work?

DD1's bday is 26th July and Squeaks is 4th August and my sisters is 21st August and they are all a pig for inviting school friends (or Squeaks will be!) I do tend not to invite children from the school though.. I am not keen on other peoples children I always want to smack their bottoms as they seem so naughty compared to mine.
I have 3 little girls who are coming up to 1 to buy for ... and school shoes/trainers can wait for a bit.. Though we are at physio next week so Tiddles will be getting hers then so just DS2, DS3, DD2, DD3 and in a few weeks Squeak to buy for!
I have a credit note from M&S from a dress someone got Squeak for her birthday which is going towards her winter coat.. hopefully I won't have to put much towards it!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Did they say this one was a boy then? I've never had one but will find out on Thursday.
My little brother just accidentally insulted me. He didn't mean to and he's under a lot of stress at the moment so I'll let it go :rotfl:
I buy things all year round in sales - clothes a size up for birthday/xmas, books from the book people, and keep them in my big box that's hidden away :shhh: then I just ask them and have to get one or two bits, so it works out cheaper for me that way.
I need to do the logo'd school uniform next week, apparently they aren't going to sell it on line now so we have to trek miles to do it now.
At least if they are with me they can try it on for size.
My mum is picking up DD1 in a bit and having her till Friday :j not that I don't love her but the break will do us all good, she will get time without her sisters, they get a break from her, we get a break from each other and my mum seems to like having her. Plus one of her school friends lives next door to my mum.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Hello
I have spent more time lurking on pregnancy boards recently, but was wondering if anyone could help me please? I have realised that i'm now halfway through my pregnancy already and haven't began to think about what travel system to get.
I don't know where to begin! I guess i know that it has to be a travel system-but ideally not anything too bulky and with a pushachair that i can use once he/she has outgrown the car seat bit (my last one was so heavy and bulkly i got rid of it in the end!). We haven't got a huge amount to spend-but if it'll last a while i'm sure i can get around my hubby to spend a bit more.I'm not keen on 3 wheels-prefer 4 if possible. I have to get on buses a lot-which is why i don't want anything bulky, but i also need it to fit in my husbands boot of car. I'm already thinking i'm asking a lot and i must have a dream puschair made up in my head!!
Any ideas/suggestions so far? Are there any good sites that have reviews maybe? This is the one bit i am rubbish at.

Can't help with the buggy advice, sorry. I like the 3 wheel ones so no real experience of 4!
I think one of the children has been meddling with my phone... It keeps buzzing and telling me it's the Queen's birthday (which it isn't - and they misspelt Queen lol) There is no telling what goes on in their heads
Squeak is cutting 2 molars. No wonder she is grumpy
they have just broken through the gum. She's had some calpol and gone to sleep now, so I really should be doing housework
